Title: The Weimar Republic (GMT P500)
Post by: BanzaiCat on February 19, 2020, 07:10:38 PM
The Weimar Republic by GMT really caught my eye recently. I love political games and this one looks great.

Quote
January 19, 1919. The Great War is over, the Kaiser has abdicated, and Germany is on its knees. After suffering a humiliating loss at the hands of the Allied nations, the former Great Power is now confronted not only with the death of millions of its citizens, but also with a severe economic crisis and a political turmoil that threatens to plunge the entire nation into civil war. The November Revolution of 1918 ushered in a new era of liberal democracy in a country traditionally ruled by noblemen warriors. The first democratic election has now been held, but democracy’s enemies are numerous, and the future of the fledgling Republic appears grim. No one can tell whether the democratic Coalition will prevail or whether any of the extremist factions will rise out of the chaos and seize power.

It lets you play as one of four factions, and can be solo'd versus bots (it's major selling point for me). It runs for 15 turns, two turns per year, from 1919 through 1933. It almost feels like a COIN game (e.g. player versus bots, political system, four factions), but it's not that.

It's P500 and in 'Made the Cut' status so it's months away from production. My luck, this and Mr. President will drop at the same time later this year. :)

Mr. President will continue to be my grail game. If they drop near the same time, Weimar will have to go by the Wayside.

I've actually curtailed my purchases quite a bit, lately. Mostly that's because I haven't had time for surveys, LOL. But I do have 20-some games out in the garage on shelves, ready to dispose of them somehow. (Nothing you guys would like.)

Only two so far this year, actually...Amerika Bomber and The Hunted.

Err...three, with my order of The Hunters. :)

Waited two days now to get a shipping notification for that but I imagine they're still shipping P500 orders, and I think it's first come, first shipped with those.
