A while back i think everyone was waiting for these guys to get sued because it was Wargame Airland Battle, then a few things changed, Micropose took over and now its Wargamey, but not Wargame

For all those interested in a late 80s cold war goes hot game - there is now Wargame Airland Battle, the daddy of them all, Broken Arrow by ex Eugen staff, Warno by Eugen and now regiments

Theres a downloadable test game with a few tutorials and so far i like it - not as 'busy' as wargame but that might be just the tutorials - theres one big operational game to play and that will be next

Some shots from the tutorials

TANKS!!!!!!!!!

Recon

Infantry - who do a really cool thing not in Wargame - they dismount but stay with the parent vehicle so its a coherent unit - in Wargame you get out of a Bradley and now you have Bradley and infantry to worry about - here the two stay together and your infantry is supported by the IFV

In a small skirmish - ATMs are used by motorised units and looks great

The end of tutorial tutorial battle - capture that area and defend the counter

and arty, looks great and is a game changer - never used it in WG but its simple and intuitive here

so far so good - as mentioned does not seem any where near as busy as WG, there is a speed button but i havent used it which is testament to the games natural speed

Regiments is a Real-Time Tactics set in Germany 1989. The Cold War has gone hot, and the inferno is raging. Lead your Regiment through the fires of conflict and the fog of war. Break through the lines, call in artillery, maneuver, feign retreats, stage defenses, counter-attack. Do not relent.

There's a free playtest you can request access to, with a 2022 planned release

THE RED HORSE OF WAR IS RIDING THROUGH THE EUROPE ONCE AGAIN

It's 1989 and the flames of a New War are flaring up. Thousands of square miles of German landscape will become a stage for sweeping battles between the best NATO and Warsaw Pact has to offer.

Lead your Regiment through the inferno of a wide-scale Cold War conflict in this new Real-Time Tactics game. Break through the lines, call in artillery and air support, maneuver, feign retreats, and stage mobile defenses. Do not relent.

The Platoon Command system lets you orchestrate battles with unprecedented precision and ease. No need to micromanage every infantryman - you're a Commanding Officer, not a sergeant.

Form your force on the fly. Selecting the main Regiment is just a start. You can expand your army during the game by calling in unique Task Forces, each bringing its own equipment and off-map support options.

Bought it.  :Loser:

Seems easier to control than the Wargame series, better pacing not so frantic. But I've only done the tutorials so far.

😂😂

It’s on the list - as BH said it looks a little slower than Warno but it has live pause and slow down to .25 - I’m a regular paused anyway so don’t find this a problem and I did like the demo

I'm gonna have to wait and see what Barthheart thinks. Glancing at some vids on Youtube, it doesn't look sufficiently different to the Eugen games for me. Between those and Armored Brigade, all of which I have (save WARNO), I'm not seeing a compelling reason to buy Regiments yet.

The feed back I’ve seen so far is it’s slower and easy to manage - reinforcements are played by cards and you order a group - air, hq etc - you don’t just keep feeding troops of your choice into the grinder

I’m a huge eugen fan and this isn’t very different - I’ll keep an eye on it

The gameplay from Steam reviewers reflects what you say above and a lot compare it favorably to the Eugen games...'much easier to get into and enjoy' etc.

Also Belgium is playable!

I bought it just on that alone.
