Not gonna lie, I'm definitely interested:
https://www.matrixgames.com/news/strategic-command-american-civil-war-announced
In this turn-based strategy game, you will control the armies, research, production and diplomatic policy of either the Union or the Confederacy during a time of great innovation and dramatic battles.
...with a massive 296 x 224 map, covering all of North America from Canada and New Mexico to the Caribbean at a 15km/9mi scale.
This is the largest hex-based map ever offered by the Strategic Command series, 6 campaigns covering the Civil War from first shot to last, new unit types, new technologies, riverine warfare, historical event popups, PBEM++ and much more...
They are also looking for beta-testers:

That's an instant buy for me. :notworthy:

^^^ What BB said!!!

This might be the best fit for this engine... no stacking and all.

^^^ What Barthheart said!!!
:bigthumb:
Yeah, I'm excited for this one.
-
The possibility of European involvement and the Mexican war affecting things is interesting. I'm curious to see what sort of effects that could have.
-
Wow, this is coming out sooner than I thought - June 30th:
https://www.matrixgames.com/news/strategic-command-american-civil-war-will-be-available-on-june-30th-2022
Sounds like they can still use beta-testers as well:

Developer interview, and a nice chunk (over 1 1/2 hours!) of gameplay:
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1503804022
-
That looks quite impressive. I do like the map graphics.
-
The map does look good but I'm not sure I like the fort graphics.
-
^ I concur, but I can live with the fort graphics for the sake of the map and the unit counters (which I also like).
-
Agreed.

A bit of info on the game in today's Tea Time video:
There's a feature trailer that starts around the 28:00 mark, after which Marco speaks for a bit. He mentions/clarifies that the June 30 release date is for the Matrix/Slitherine store only; the game won't release on Steam & GOG until July 14.

At an undisclosed location deep in the Andes Mountains?
I think he's at an undisclosed location in suburban DC

Does he have a great affinity for ASL?

Suburban DC? So, really out of touch with Civilization then.
-
That bad, huh?

Even the Cherry Trees are asking to go back to Japan. :o

Nice write-up. Looking forward to getting this more than ever!
-
Definitely on my 'follow list' now.
-
If you are a MP fan then Matrix have already opened up entries for a Strategic Command ACW multi-player tournament over three rounds that you can enter via their forums starting late July. It will be using their excellent PBEM++ in game system that also emails you when your opponent has made their turn
I have entered as I am buying this for sure tomorrow and I should learn a lot as I not doubt get stomped :)
Hope some of the Dragoons jump in too.

Nice. It's two more months until I get mine! I must be patient...

Yeah, but that's also Wodin's site so on pretty much every level that exists I don't care what they think :Loser:
-
Ew. I didn't realize/had forgotten that was his site. I feel dirty now.

Hubert Cater discusses the series, including the upcoming DLC (talk about the latter begins around the 6:25 mark):
Sounds like it's going to be a pretty beefy add-on, with campaigns covering the Mexican-American War, Spanish-American War, and even the Franco-Prussian War. :D
-
Did somebody say DLC?
-
Yeah, I had no idea, either. I'm not sad about it, though!

Meh!

One word game reviews by Bob - add it to the content list

Done.
-
Meh!
Oh, come on! You're not at least a little interested? Not even for the Franco-Prussian War...?
-
Yes, dammit! >:(

why is the king of Spain attacking Prussia?! :silly:

I heard it all got started when Franco laughed at Bismarck's Pickelhaube. Some people are VERY sensitive about their head ware.

I attribute this look to martok more than any other - should one day we ever meet I’ll be very disappointed if this isn’t the look I receive - and if I don’t I’ll keep dinging the little hotel bell at reception until it happens
-
Ha! I'll try not to disappoint. ;D
-
The free DLC has been released for the Franco-Prussian War. This make SCACW a must buy for me now.

shoot over some screenies when you get a chance! :)

-
yeah the sheer variety of campaigns available in the new dlc is nuts.
-
As ojsdad posted, I bought the base game just to get access to the Franco Prussian War dlc. All the new campaigns coming are extra icing. Love me some obscure wars and battles.
-
You know, an interesting "what if" would be if the west coast seceded out of the ACW nightmare, if the Mormons formed the Mormon Free State, and both Maximilian Mexico and Texas tried to expand.
Could Canada conquer Oregon?
-
…
Could Canada conquer Oregon?
Would Canada want to?
-
What else have they got to occupy their time?
Sergeant Preston and Yukon King need to keep busy.

;D Snidley Whiplash for President of Canad-gon!
