Would be a bigger loss if I had ever heard of it before today.

Being able to Google shit better than your clients is a legit career skill.

I've heard of it and it's still no great loss.

I'm not exactly devastated by the news.

For those (such as myself) who play a lot of 4x games and grand-strategy games, the closing down of Explorminate is definitely something of a blow.  It's not the end of the world, obviously, but it was really nice to have a "one-stop shop" where fans of the genre could get their news about new & existing games, plus converse about them in the forums.

Personally, I haven't really found that anywhere else.  We mostly discuss only wargames and tabletop games here at ACG, Strategy Gamer is tainted by its association with Matrix/Slitherine, and the other place simply isn't an option anymore.

You can talk all the 4x here you want. Recruit enough others and you'll have someone to talk to ;)

Yeah, I love me some 4x. We even have our own forum here for it.

I've been working on it for a while now, believe me.  ::)

So what 4x game(s) have you been playing as of late?  :P

Civ 6 is always at bat in my rotation. I've just started a game of Interstellar Space: Genesis (haven't played it in ages).

I'm back playing some Stellaris.  Also Warhammer II, although that's not a 4x game.

I like ISG, but I feel like there are still some pacing issues with it.  The early game continues to feel a bit slow and/or dull:  New colonies still take too long to develop IMO, and exploration is...unbalanced.  Fortunately, the devs have done a great job so far with improving the game.

Rob is looking to sell the site now; the guy is burned out.  Hopefully it doesn't mean Explorminate is going to shut down, but I'm sure things will change going forward.
