Amy & I had previously discussed visiting the place, along with Pegasus Games.
We stayed literally around the corner from Pegasus, and I have pics for another FLGS Spotlight, but I will say it was a little underwhelming after spending the morning at NK.
They
do have one of the nicest gaming areas I've ever seen though - lots of table space, some rolling dividers to help offer some semi-privacy, and even some plants on pedestals around the room. Definitely nice!
it'd be a no-brainer to make it a day trip, possibly even a weekend, time & circumstances allowing. But either way, I'd have been happy to drive over and hang out for a bit if I'd realized you were going to be in the area. (Incidentally, I'm supposed to make sure I give you grief on Amy's behalf as well.)
I'm sorry I didn't give y'all a heads up then. I mean, my ass is numb after 11 hours in the car, and I'm sick of rain in my face, but I really didn't think to inflict that on anyone else or I definitely would've given you a heads up.
We had me, and Gary, and "The Legend Himself, Fucko!" on the trip. Morning at the store – chat with an Ardwulf fan/stalker, warehouse tour, a bunch of shopping, interview with Dan, and more shopping – before we left for a
very underwhelming lunch in downtown Madison. Dropped Fucko for naptime back at the hotel and back to the store for, yes, more shopping and visiting with some employees and another Ardwulf fan/stalker before Fucko woke up and whined about wanting dinner (we were still stuffed from the thoroughly mediocre lunch). Dinner at some local chain, scotch shopping at Total Wine, then back to the hotel to ogle our loot some more.
It was on-the-go for most of the day, but yeah, it would've been nice to see you again and finally meet Her Almighty Amyness, but I gacked up. Mea Culpa.
I have no idea whatever happened to my copy of Heroic Worlds by Lawrence Schick so I was very happy to acquire a new one of those
I take it that one's a good read, then? Sounds interesting.
It's not that's it's a heavy-duty read, but that it's a thorough reference of the RPG products that were on the market / available across the industry over that time, which was only 15-18 years into the history of the hobby when it was written.
I also got a copy of the Avalon Hill edition of Freedom in the Galaxy
Nice!! Why the Avalon Hill edition, though? Better rules/mechanics?
It was in stock
Heh, fair. I'm still in the middle of going through and clearing out stuff myself, so I definitely empathize.
They've got a big "trade day" coming up this next weekend where they'll be offering bonus credit for game trades
