GOG currently has a HUGE sale for all manner of space-themed games.  It includes titles like Stellaris, Master of Orion, Surviving Mars, BattleTech, No Man's Sky, Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock, and more.

Stardock has a weekend sale for most of their more popular titles (Sins, GalCiv3, etc.). 


Total War likewise has a weekend sale on of all their historical titles.  Definitely a good time pick up and try any that you were waffling about/sitting on the fence for.

I'm tempted by 'Star Control Origins', although the reviews are not too encouraging.

I can't vouch for it myself, although my understanding is that it's a decent game overall.  It apparently has good writing and a solid story, but is a bit marred by simple mechanics & gameplay.
