Title: The Third World War
Post by: besilarius on October 08, 2020, 10:21:02 AM
https://www.compassgames.com/preorders/the-third-world-war-designer-signature-edition.html

GDW's set of four games is being redone by Compass Games.
The original designer, Frank Chadwick is involved and says he is really pumped.
One part of this system that was excellent was the air war.  Air-Ground cooperation could be a real key in the very tight games.
Recall that one fellow, who flew F4s was very impressed that the design included sortie rates.

Yep, it was discussed here a year ago.  I pre-ordered at the beginning of the year, but it's been delayed until mid next year.  I believe that this is one of the games getting the new bigger, thicker US made counters and is the cause of the delay

I've been following this one on CSW for years now.  Every time I think they're close, something else goes wrong and they delay again....

The Third World War is probably my grail game.  I played it many times in high school, from the Northern Front through the Balkans.  My copy of Persian Gulf was missing the political rules and, in a pre-interwebs era, that was a show-stopper.

In more recent years I have played the monster game through (with the Persian Gulf political rules, thanks to BGG and friendly gamers) a few times.

So this was an auto-order as soon as I heard about it two years ago.
