As you get deeper into the missions and start playing ones where you control multiple operatives, it starts to make more sense.  If your operators haven't been spotted when the alarm triggers, you only flip one to spotted and the Germans react to him.  Your others remain hidden until their actions reveal them.  In these cases, you can trigger diversions and ambushes.

This is TIGHT!

Blue crosses are killed patrolmen. One was killed by Ginger with a knife and the other was killed with Paddy's bear trap.

Red circles are killed sentries. Both killed at the hands of Ginger's knife.

Yellow circle is Ginger and Paddy holding up waiting for Jock and Anders to come in on their jeep and get them out.

The jeep doesn't come in until a special event card is pulled. That's buried somewhere in the deck of event cards (there's a formula for putting it in the deck...in this scenario, you take the first 18 cards away, then you take the next 6 and shuffle the event card into those 6, then you out the 18 back on top).

So the event card will be one of 19 through 26 event cards.

The reason I say it's tight is because I've only pulled 12 event cards so I've got AT LEAST 6 more to pull before I stand a chance of Jock and Anders racing in to help us.

The alarm is already down to 2...only two more alarm increases and the alarm goes...alerting every German soldier and one of my blokes has to be marked as spotted...with every German patrolman heading towards him. And more soldiers enter the fray from two different entry points (two white arrows)

It's important to take out patrolmen more than sentries. Sentries have more chance of turning and surprising you and in that respect its important to get rid of them. But patrolmen are the ones who will had towards your location (sentries stay put unless there's no patrolmen left.

It's slow going the game because there are times when you can't do anything (waiting for a patrolman to pass or just having to sit tight like now)...but there's tension

I found that mission to be quite a tough one to beat.

The German armoured car that shoes up as soon as the alarm triggers is pure murder with its 20mm cannon, especially against the jeep.

Paddy not having a knife makes rhe stealth section very challenging.

Yes - it is. The alarm has just gone off with no sign of the jeep as yet.

What do you mean? It's present the whole mission doing it's rounds up the road, left and back.

Yeah - once his bear trap is used, he's doing nothing until the alarm goes off basically.

Point on that. I se a dice roll 91-3 and 4-6) to decide where the German patrols start on their round. For the patrol byt the building they start in, he started on the street next to the entrance to the house that Paddy and Ginger occupy. He would've seen them on entering, unless I moved them into the other room and as I wanted rid of that patrol anyway, I layed the beartrap next to the door so as soon as he walked in, he copped it.

Yeah, we did the same thing with the bear trap.  Just took out the patrol guy who was set to wander in the building.  Set it up in the NW portion of the map to snap the guy doing his rounds behind the bushes as well.

Just had another look at my scenario book.  Somehow I managed to miss the dotted patrol line for the armoured car so we had it just sitting off the edge of the map waiting for the alarm to trigger in the same way the SMG reinforcements operate.  Whoops!

ha - that makes quite a difference because trying to sneak around when that can move 8 really restricts your movement - and can see forward and rear!

I'm unsure of it's LoS...I know it can see over walls (but not if you are adjacent crouching to the wall). But hedges? I didn't know - I need to look that up because I *think* hedges are like walls

It was no good. Ginger and Paddy got boxed in two turns before the Jeep with Jock and Anders appeared...they rescued Ginger, but Paddy was a goner.

Loved the scenario. Really tense waiting for the jeep to show.

I was really lucky with Alarm cards...I had very few turn up for maybe the first 10 or 12 cards then I got 3 one after the other.

I've set it up again - see if I can get them both out next time.

I kept trying to time the explosives to take out the armoured car but never managed to get it.  Best we managed was to catch 3 SMG troopers in the blast.  Just got shredded soon after so it was time to restart yet again.

I just watched a couple of vids of the game, an un-boxing and an intro to the gameplay. Looks like fun, but will admit I had a bit of a chuckle when the guy pulled an event card that gave a guard a smoke break, and created enough smoke to form a smoke screen. What the heck was that guy smoking?
