Indeed.  The fact that this time around, you pre-ordered WH3, while -- in contrast -- I actually waited an entire year before buying it, is merely further proof of my theory that irony is one of the great constants in the universe.

It's only taken CA the better part of a year ( ::) ), but they've finally released the 12-month roadmap:

Setting aside the various DLC that's coming, I'm glad the devs are also going back and revisiting some of the older races (like the Empire and the Dwarfs).  Most of them badly need some updating.

Patch 3.1 dropped this past week.  Highlights include updates to Bretonnia, Dark Elves, Chaos Dwarfs end-game, plus a new Free-LC Legendary Hero (Herald Hammerstorm -- the original wielder of the titular Warhammer).

OK, look, the real highlight of that was the giant at the end.  Totally should've been more of that in there

Similar to historical counterpart, Pharaoh: Dynasties, Warhammer 3 has come quite a ways from its nadir last year (which was also a low point for the franchise in general).  Thankfully, CA appears to have actually listened to their player community, and has since made decent strides on improving the game.

The release of Thrones of Decay and accompanying 5.0 update back in April was considered a success, and the devs have since followed up with around a dozen interim patches, including 5.2.3, which just dropped last week (no more waiting having to eons between patch releases!).

On top of that, CA also shared with the community some insights on their development processes, along with some of things coming both the 6.0 update, plus the smaller interim patches:

I don't know that there was anything particularly earth-shaking that they discussed, but it's nice to see them finally communicating more regularly -- and a bit more openly -- with the players again.  It was a change that badly needed to happen.

It was upgrading to this from 2 that had my wallet tingling for hardware upgrades

I was completely underwhelmed on release but as you say it’s gotten better and better with every update - it’s on the list but not at the top
