Has anyone else checked out the game since it released back in July?  If you haven't, and already own the base/original Pharaoh (you get Dynasties for free), you probably should.

I've not spent a huge amount of time with the game yet, but I've definitely enjoyed it so far.  It's hard to believe, but it appears the fans may have finally gotten the Bronze Age Total War they've so long waited for.  It's too early for me to say with certainty (I need to spend more time with it than I currently have), but I suspect this might be the best historical title CA has put out since at least Shogun 2.

The game isn't perfect, to be sure, but compared to where the original Pharaoh was at when it released 11 months ago, Dynasties is an improvement by almost an entire order of magnitude.  It's one hell of a turnaround for CA, given how everything was spiraling for them last year (and eventually leading to their mea culpa).

I know I avoided it based on the initial release and also the shit storm that was brewing just prior to that - I’m honestly amazed they’ve turned it round

I never liked the time period much but the drama of the game's resurrection will have me pick it up one day. Really wondering if they will ever have another historical release.

^You sounded like Dirty Harry just then.

Many rumors abound online of which historical era is next...I don't have to tell any of you that...but I personally have no idea.

Geek is the nearest thing that Yorkshire has to Dirty Harry.

Same but I am tempted to give it a shot as I find the period fascinating.

Same -- both with skipping the game initially, and amazed with the fact that CA managed to pretty much a pull off a 180 on this one.  I'm still in a bit of disbelief.

I never liked the time period much but the drama of the game's resurrection will have me pick it up one day. Really wondering if they will ever have another historical release.

I've admittedly never been a big ancient Egypt fan, but most of the other cultures in the game -- including & especially the ones added in the Dynasties Edition -- fascinate me.  And simply exploring the game's various features & mechanics has been pretty fun in and of itself; you can see a lot of the lessons the developers learned from previous games, many of which I would dearly love to see implemented in future historical titles.  The campaign side of Pharaoh honestly has close to the same depth as the tactical battles now, if not more so -- there's real meat to chew on there.

As to your second statement, CA is absolutely working on their next historical game.  They've stated as much on several occasions, though of course they're revealing no details at this point.  World War 1 has been mentioned as a very real possibility for the next setting -- one that would be a non-starter for me (I have zero desire for a TW game set in anything past the Victoria Era), but one that I imagine would require you to instantly change underclothes (if you didn't die from shocked glee first).  :P

I will hunt them down and gut them like a fish if there is no M3

There will be.  The only question is, will any of us still be alive -- or at least still mentally acute enough -- to play the game when it finally comes out?  ::)  :-\

Well it is currently on sale...

Martok you still know me too well. IIRC the word on the TW street is either WWI or M3. Undies-laundering for me for sure. I basically exercise and try to eat right so I can survive long enough to play either.

You should get a job with CA marketing. You're making me more interested in Pharaoh. 'Geek and I will send you our receipts.
