Love me a good Pirate Game, but not this.

The first warning sign came when I looked at the map, and colonies were not necessarily owned by who actually owned it historically. In the game, the English own everything in the South and East, Spain in the South and West, France in North America, and the Netherlands in the Central Carribean.

The whole game is based on roaming the map and fighting in sea battles. The sea battles are turned based, and quite simplistic. They are fun at first, but grow monotonous after a while. It becomes apparent that the game is a rogue-lite style game, with enemies just leveling up as you level your character up. So their is no actual feeling of progression as all the enemy ships just progress along with you.

The game is entertaining at first, but just becomes repetitive with not a whole lot of flavor, or anything else other than sea battle, after sea battle.

 Rating  4.6/10
