Yeah, that might have worked in 1728...but not now.

I'm sure the article wasn't completely serious... but you do have to at lease wonder what the influence of even the possibility of retaliatory asymmetrical naval warfare could have on Chinese plans to Go Bold somewhere.

It may come as a shock, but there is actual TV scifi which isn't set in the ST universe(s).  ;D

My problem is I saw the first SG movie in the theater. It was...not good.

The movie was, in my opinion, 'sparse' when compared to the series. The TV show started in the mid 90's and certainly had some typically 90's painful moments but it hit its stride soon enough and created a very detailed backstory on which to build. It also helps that Richard Dean Anderson chose to play the lead character, Colonel O'Neil, as much more approachable, sarcastic, and likable than Kurt Russell did in the film.

The movie was fantastic, I thought. Though that's coming from someone that's not really gotten into any of the SG series. I've tried, but I just can't.

I loved both the movie and the series.  Even my wife liked the series, and she is not a sci-fi person.

I always felt that O'Neil had changed quite a bit from when he was first introduced in the movie, having to deal with his shot accidentally killing himself with his dads hand gun, to having gone through the events on Abydos.

Both the SG and SG: Atlantis series are on Prime. Does it matter which you watch first? I might try it again though I decided to get through all of the Clone Wars animated series, and then Rebels.
