Still on the subject of old GDW games, (1977 in this case), this was another outstanding game from them that deserves a revamp; again, a Frank Chadwick design.

Anyone?

you wanna know what *I* was doing in '77 ;)

Serious question, though, what does this one do any better / worse than more recent DBP games?

It did seem to capture the flow more plus it deals with a longer time period whereas most other games on the subject, and there ain't many, usually deal with the last few weeks/days of the siege.

'Storm over Dien Bien Phu' from MMP is good, as is the excellent game from Legion Games; the air supply rules in particular are well thought out and almost a sub-game in themselves. The only other games that I can think of are 'La vallée de la mort - Dien Bien Phu' by Against the Odds, and 'The Lost Valley: The Siege of Dien Bien Phu' by White Dog Games, neither of which I've played but again, it seems that they both only deal with the final stages.

Edit. I have looked at both of those last 2 mentioned, and, I have to say, the last one looks dreadful :-(
