The Battle of Rohr -- 20 April, 1809

Right on the numbers, if I do say so myself.

Got beaten in this one rather badly...

You don't know the half of it :).

I've been following some of these combats (C&C:N and Sharpe Practice) and was wondering if and how I might get involved. I have both sets of rules and have played many C&C board games and a couple of SP miniatures games. Is there anything I need to do?

I started with nothing and still have most of it left

I'm a bit in the same boat, although I admit to not having played any C&C games. Obviously a copy of TTS and a Steam account is required. Also, like me, being in the UK means sorting the time zone wosname out, since we're 5 hours adrift from our most of Colonial chums :-)

Hi bob48:

I am a member of Steam and have purchased TTS, although I find it very difficult to put a project together in TTS. The videos seem to be rushed and I find the commentator's accent gets in the way a little (not her fault, of course). The "manual" comes across as: "If you want to do this, go to section 3 paragraph 1" rather than "to design a module to run the board game 'C&C Napoleonics', first you must have a jpg file of your game board on file; click on <Game Board> and then <Load Image> loading your jpg file... Next,..." But there doesn't seem to be anything like that and my questions elicit responses such as "It is very easy if you have a low level of creative skill..." and then actually offer no help at all.

So, I have been hoping that the guys at Armchair Dragoons will allow me access to the TTS stuff they use for their Saturday Night Fights - or at least tell me what to do to get to the position where I can create my own scenarios using their awesome based miniatures and terrain tiles. As a military historian with a specialist interest in the Peninsular War, I have visited most of the PW battlefields and written the odd book. I am prepared to design scenarios, put together new armies with accurate uniforms for use in the TTS module and generally be as helpful as I can.

Obviously, the difference in time zones is not conducive to having conversations but I am in touch with Cyrano and am hopeful of progress. If you are interested in learning C&C Napoleonics, I'd be happy to provide assistance - I have all the so-far-issued expansions. If you make use of the Vassal Engine, we could utilise that while we wait for progress in my efforts with Armchair Dragoons or, if said Dragoons were willing to allow the use of their facilities, we could start some Saturday Night Fights of our own.

Where in the UK are you based? I live near Chelmsford, in Essex. By the way, how do I get rid of my IP address on my postings?

I started with nothing and still have most of it left

Hi Mike,

I think Cyrano will guide us through the proceedings, and advise what we need to do. I have only recently been gifted a copy of TTS so I'm by no means an expert, but several of the guys here will assist us.

I'm way up 't north in Newcastle upon Tyne.

As far as I'm aware, there is no way of not displaying the IP address, but either Brant or Mirth will correct me if I'm wrong.

That's my department. Let me see what I can do.  It's a stock feature of the forum theme, but I didn't realize it was visible to regular members (i.e., not admins) until you said something

I must admit, I assumed I could see it as a moderator, but didn't realise that everyone could see it.

I'll keep my fingers crossed - Cyrano seems like a nice guy. I am trying to use the TTS Knowledge Base to learn but, as a step-by-step guide it leaves a lot to be desired.

I used to enjoy my visits to Newcastle when I was in gainful employment (long since retired) but I haven't visited for many years - lovely people, very hospitable in my experience. Do you play wargames in any other form (miniatures, etc.)?

Do you own the Vassal Engine for playing board games online?

I started with nothing and still have most of it left

Also retired, for the last 5 years anyway. I'm actually a Brummie, but we have lived in Newcastle since 1976, so we are more-or-less naturalised Geordies now :-)

I play board wargames, and have done so since the 1960's, and yes, I do have Vassal and have a few mods installed.

Any particular periods that you are interested in?
