TSR2 was just to advanced for its time.
As a kid, I remember being taken to the Farnbrough Air Show when the Fairy Delta 2 there, flown by Peter Twiss.
Must have been in the very early 1950's

It still blows my mind to this day that humans could build such highly-engineered and complex aircraft from precise plans created on physical drafting tables.

Absolutely. I did engineering drawing once, and that was obviously in pre CAD-CAM days. I really used to enjoy the technical drawing aspect and still had some of the equipment until a few years ago.

I took some AutoCAD classes back in the mid-90s and even then it was pretty amazing to think people did that by hand. With precise drawing instruments, to be fair, but...BY HAND.

I know, right?
My final project in the 2D class was the Enterprise (from TOS) and the Enterprise's bridge. The 3D class I took the next semester, I did a 3D model of the TOS Enterprise, complete with lights on the inside. What fun that was.

58 sqn was a Coastal Command unit for most of the war, apart from a brief period with Bomber Command.
