Title: April 22, 2020 -- "Napoleon at War" -- Dr. Phil Sabin Style
Post by: Cyrano on April 18, 2020, 11:08:42 PM
Played with minis and with rules changes dug up by Brant.

Went very well I think.

The S.P.I. force is still strong out there.

And for very good reason.

Oh, I could play Wednesday nights! If you'd like to do it let me know. Would be fun to give it a try, I just got the Blucher rulebook a few days ago so still going through it.

Cool.  Choice of side?

Build to 300 points, book in hand :).

Hmm I'll take the allies!

Edit: don't have the book in front of me right now but I'll check in a little bit what the options are. I don't mind you picking it if you have something historical in mind. :)

Erm...which of the Allies?

I do, of course, have the Russians built...

Can you have some fun with Russians vs Prussians?

Of course you can - they loved sparring with each other.

Ended up getting a little carried away reading the army guidelines, so here is my proposed unit list/cost for the 300 point Rooskies:

10 - Kutusov
5 - Kutnisov
110 - Infantry (10 units)
64 - Guards, Grenadiers (4 units)
12 - Militia (2 units)
30 - Guard Cav (2 units)
30 - Cavalry (3 units)
16 - Cossacks (4 units)
9 - Heavy Arty (massed in battalion)
6 - Foot Arty (massed in battalion)
6 - Foot Arty (for attachment by battery, 3 batteries)
Total Cost 298

Formation
1st Corps - Kutnisov, 1 Heavy Arty, 2 Infantry, 1 Guard/Gren, 1 Cav, 1 Militia
2nd Corps - 1 Foot Arty, 2 Infantry, 1 Guard/Gren, 1 Cav, 1 Militia
3rd Corps - 4 Infantry (w/ 1 attached battery), 1 Cav
4th Corps - 2 Guard Cav, 4 Cossacks
5th Corps - 2 Infantry (w/ 2 attached batteries), 2 Guard/Gren

I may end up breaking out some of the cav for Scouting per the Scharnhorst campaign rules.  Of course, let me know if you see any issue with this.  The Russians are a little odd with their small Corps, I'm stuck with 3-6 Corps of max size 6 units.

Edit: swapped out an infantry for Kutusov. We will see how much of a pain (or not) being immobile is.

Mike:  Do you have the rules?  If you don't, I don't think it would give great offense for me to ship you just that bit that concerns the build points.

Failing that, I can just build you a French force...them I got :).

I don't have the rules.  I wasn't really planning on playing tonight.

Just for clarification, are you planning on playing this tonight? I assumed a later date, I can also play tonight but just wanted to make sure one way or the other.

Edit: Nevermind I see now that it's in the title sorry, I'll be good for tonight.  The usual 7 p.m. central or are you starting earlier?

I got re-elected yesterday (HOORAY) but that's knocked a whole bunch of other stuff into a cocked hat.

I will definitely be building your army tonight, but perhaps playing something else.

Mike, I'll get you the build rules.

Congrats, Jim!

I'm betting one of his campaign promises was, free tricorn hats for all males over 50. :)

Thanks, fellahs.  It was a rougher road than I had expected, but all's well and all that.

Who will oppose him?
