Title: "Men Against Fire: The Problem of Battle Command"
Post by: Cyrano on July 08, 2020, 10:33:41 AM
It's weird.  When you Google this, it comes up now as an episode of Black Mirror.

Anyway, Paddy Griffith wrote a game based on the principles of this book creating a blend of tabletop skirmish game, role-playing game, and Kriegsspiel.

I have, after much dilly-dally, built a TTS for it.

Anyone around to try it out tonight?

I'd love 3-4...

Sounds interesting, do you have a link for the game's page or anything of that sort? I'm having trouble finding any information about it online, lots about the book but nothing on the game.

I remember checking that book out of the library and being utterly perplexed by the games in it.  I was also about 10yo at the time.

It's almost worth it just to see them melt. But it's easier (and more fun) to burn the actual thing.

That was a lot of fun.  Totally different than what we usually play.

Reviewing public and private comments, the #1 request?:  A full-squad game.

Gonna happen...

Gonna happen...

You mentioned the Black Mirror episode last night, Cyrano. If you haven't watched it you might. It's as much as response to SLA Marshall as the game. It's addressing how technology might be (mis-)used to deal with the issues our avatars were dealing with in the game.

Okay, I've got to watch the replay now.

Ye gods, that would mean actually watching Black Mirror.
