I've now played about ten sessions of Conflict Of Heroes by Academy Games. And huh, am I in love with this system! The CAPs, the spent die and all of that puts you under constant pressure to make decisions at the right point in time.

Sometimes it's just not your day. My T-26s only managed to destroy one PzII. Very close shot, even with carefull aiming. One round after my initiative halted the advance, my first line/ambush and mobility is gone. The enemy is still in a hurry to push for the objective, though.

I want this system for every conflict now. Even Napoleonics, especially Napoleonics. Uwe, hear me!

And sure, I know it takes years for even one iteration to come out, but one can still hope...

I played the heck out of the first 3 games.

I have Awakening the Bear 1st edition that I really enjoyed but haven't tried out the changes to the rules in 3rd edition. I'm curious to see what they would add to the experience.

Jan, do you want to put it on the schedule for the ACDC?

I have Guadalcanal and Storms of Steel but have (big surprise) yet to get them to the table.

I have Guadalcanal and have played the first 3 scenarios multiple times.  My game group thinks its a good game but nobody was keen to play scenarios 4-10 as they all require hidden placement for Japanese units.  I'm not sure why there was such an aversion to it.  Maybe the bookkeeping required in writing down the location of each unit?

I haven't tried the 3rd ed rules either.

I think, I am not that deep into it yet. Plus, I want to use the timeframe I got due to time difference to try some tabletop systems, you know.  ;)

I've played Awakening the Bear with 3rd Edition rules, and the spent die works perfectly fine. Maybe you can lure your buddies to TTS, with the hidden boxes, tracking hidden movement on a copy of the board is very easy.

There is a 3 player scenario in 'Price of Honour' called 'Race to Lvov that me and my 2 buddies played over a period of some weeks, each taking a turn as one of the 3 forces involved - Russian, German and Polish. It plays quite differently for each army and is a lot of fun.

The series really excels as a multi-player game.

I have Guadalcanal and it is great fun. For some reason, however, I slightly prefer Heroes of the Pacific.

When 1e launched, it was all the rage at Historicon.  Everybody who wasn't at a minis table was playing it.  I bought deeply.  Tapped out hard after all the later editions started coming out.  If I wanted that, I'd play more 40k.

There's a reason not to buy.

Yeah, I get that. Not a big fan of constant re-iterations either. You could update your box relatively easy, though, couldn't you? The third edition is lit, anyway.
