Tuna's down. (Hope you're on the mend!)
Vance is flying way out of town.
Dunno who's about?
I'm still plowing my way through a "The Men Who Would Be Kings" Battle of Isandlwana set. It is REALLY freaking big. But I do not think I will quite be done?
My Battle of the Nile set for "Fighting Sail" is complete. It, too, is on the big side of things.
But, because I have the attention span of a quark, I have now built a "Sharp Practice" set that I am quite eager to try out.
What would folks prefer? If anyone is about...

BAYETE INKOSI!!!

Awww. Well, it needs more players anyway.
As far as I know, I'll be available 7pm as usual.

I'm out. Chaperoning my daughters class to NYC and we leave Saturday night.
-
Have fun guys.. maybe in the coming weeks, I'll lurk on Youtube!
-
Surgery's over. Pain not too bad, I'm alive, so all good. lol, but did have a code blue, I must say the nurses response time was/is to be admired! The guy who moved me into the room, hit the button by mistake.
-
Hehe...
Leave it to you to, even inadvertently, put them through a Code drill.
Glad to hear you're on the mend.
-
Taking this one live in just a few...

I don't know as I ever doubted that I'd like SP2, but that's a fun system.
Looking forward to finishing the game with Jason and setting up others with other Napoleonic combatants.
Thanks to Jason for putting up with it, but also for the folks that joined. Even got a few "passers-by" for this one.

at one point, I think you had 8 simultaneous viewers

I mentioned to Cyrano after the show, that there's a way to livestream onto Steam, which would give at least some chance of people visiting Steam's front page to see the stream is up (as one of six samples, with others being accessed to the right), as well as at least some chance of people visiting Steam's TTS page seeing the livestream.
I've tested this before myself (when Aggressors: Ancient Rome came out), but I don't quite recall how to do it.
As I hope comes across in the video, I REAAAAALLLLY like this game system! :D An American Civil War campaign would be epic.
-
Just a note that I should be available tomorrow night to finish out the epic Sharp Practice firefight! :D
Although if someone wants to take over my position, or if we have someone to take over Cyrano's, that's okay, too. I'll cede control of my side and let someone else play/learn the system this week. (Both sides are in good positions to win, and/or to lose! We're in an equal high-tension position.)
-
I will be asleep after a 12 hour plane ride home.... :P
-
Oh, you're not getting away that easily.
I do intend to continue to PEWPEW you.
-
I'm still on schedule to be there at 7pm

Captain Funn, he is the one, the one who shall..... RUNNNN?!?!??! :waah:
-
Looked like a cool game. Didn't get to watch the whole thing, but what I saw looked good. :bigthumb:
-
And we're not done with our fun! But Funn's buns are shunning the guns, and now are running away from the sun.

Funn marched for the church
To snipe the dastardly Frogs.
Now shocked, Funn must run.

Funn, caught on the run,
to-ward the Son, now is done:
his buns shun the guns.
And I didn't even pun! >:D
-
There was a lieutenant named Funn,
Who marched off to the sound of the gun.
But his dive for the church,
Left his men in the lurch,
And Bawb off in search of a pun.
-
some nice work happening here
-
Are we on tomorrow? :D
-
Sure!
....would you like to take over Capt. Funn's position?! >:D
-
Well... sure.... but still haven't heard from the boss..... ???
-
Do NOT LET HIM HUSTLE YOU.
Capt. Funn in particular is having a bad, bad day.
The rest of the British are in all together better fettle.
As the next game will be a MP 1809 scenario -- 'm obsessed -- I'd love to have one or two more learn the system.
We are GO at 1900 CDT.
And, yes, I really do love SP2.
I miss some of the more "true" Napoleonic simulation stuff from one, but it's an overall better game.

My allergies have landed hard today, with a sinus headache approaching a migraine. So odds are good I won't be available to play tonight -- I'm fighting off some nausea just being here to type this!
So if Barth or anyone else wants to take over the British position -- which as Cyrano says isn't bad at all aside from Funn himself -- I will have no objections. :v
The balances can be quickly seen by checking the end of last week's video. The British are now down behind the French on morale (which is the effective score of the game). And Funn will be hard-pressed to regain and put to any good use his crew under direct command, which was once the largest in the game -- assuming he can even keep them from routing off the board! (Which I assume is a game mechanic.)
On the other hand, the British have whittled down a significant number of the French, and all the remaining British units are well-planted in defensive territory, with no casualties or shock at all. So while the French are (probably) about to outnumber us, and the balance has arguably tipped in their favor, the British still have good chances to kick the French out of the town after all!

I f*92ing hate pollen season. :tickedoff:
-
Played same map and scenario with Vance. Different deployment point, however, made for radically different game.
Five hour push to a finish, but I had an awesome time. Thanks to Vance and everybody who stopped by.
Oh, and Capt. Funn pulled this one out!
-
Great game last night(this morning)! :bigthumb:
Fun system. Who new that there was tactical skirmish combat in Nappy times....
-

Better this morning, since a cold front and high pressure are squeezing through. But here in West Tennessee, home of all allergies, our motto is, IT'S ALWAYS ALLERGY SEASON! :waah:
All hail to Barthheart for pulling out a win on a reload of the system! Good Lord, five hours... my allergy headache literally could even think about that.

Ummm… no I was playing the French... :Loser: ... who for some reason have not mastered proper use of the musket in this game. :idiot2:
The 5 hours actually flowed by very well... though I was quite tired when the dog wanted to be fed at 6 am.... Once we had most of the rules down the game moved quite quickly with little down time.
-
Ah -- yes, okay, looking back, Cyrano didn't say who played what, only that Funn won this time. :-[
Perhaps relatedly, where's the video link at? :nerd:
-
Still can’t have a rational conversation about the controlled volley thing.
-
Again fun system. The morale rack is an important thing. As the battle started not much was happening as we maneuvered and took some shots at each other.
But as the battle went on and casualties started to mount, units became more fragile and prone to be affected by shock values mounting.
Then when my morale track went into the red and I started loosing Action flags I was really restricted in what I could do. And then it went south in a hurry.... :(
I should have done like Jim did earlier and joined my overall commander's troops with the troops inside the fence, with Capt. Poopy Pants, to force the spreading out of the shot effects. Smart move by Jim and I should have acted the same... but was counting on my flankers to rake his hoard... but I started losing flags and ability to activate...
I hold Lt. Clouseau(?)(Capt. Poopy Pants) for our loss. He stepped in dog doo, random event (Really!) right near the start of the game, causing him to lose his ability to act freely.
I take some responsibility too as I should have had my leader join with his troops immediately at that point.
Great fun. :bigthumb:

I've become a bit obsessed with "Sharp Practice 2", especially given the breath of options available.
It covers the entire BP period, but even in the Napoleonic there are national characteristics sheets out there for, I think, a dozen nations now spanning the whole 1794-1815 period.
And I'm still learning the rules, honestly.
Haven't played with either cavalry or artillery yet...the latter strikes me as ghastly.
While it didn't affect the outcome much (at all) the guards cannot join a formation with the line infantry. The lights can join the line only as a "skirmish screen".
Also, I don't believe your unit merely being taken off at the end would have cost you the last point of morale...not that the outcome wasn't a foregone conclusion...
You gave a VERY sporting game and certainly impressed on me the value of fisticuffs in the right situation. That is a particularly nasty system.

So, are there any plans for Easter Weekend?
-
Saturday night I'm busy with dinner with friends... but I do have Friday and Monday off.... :D
-
I could make BOTH Friday and Saturday happen.
Vance (and anybody else) care to try out my 1809 Austrian set? It's Austrians vs. Bavarians for Moosburg.
Jason and I still must finish Capt. Funn's caper...
-
Welp... turns out that Saturday night is now a better bet than Friday. Our dinner reservations are only good until 1930EST so I should be home by 2000 or minutes there after.
So yeah bring on Austrians vs Bavarians!
