Vikings? Yes. Open World? Yes. Crafting? Yes. Survival? Yes. Fight ancient Norse monsters? Yes. Basically a litany of things I enjoy.
It took me a couple of hours to figure out how to build effectively. Its not the easiest building tool design to use but it does get easier. And yes, it can be slightly frustrating when pieces don't lock into place.
After 12 hours of messing around building, fighting, collecting resources, and getting stuck in the middle of a lake on a raft for an hour trying to get back to shore...I really, really like the game. It pulls me in the same way 7 Days to Die does.
Next up to figure out...breed boars, make a honey farm, kill the first boss to unlock more technology, and go troll hunting.
It's the best $20 I have spent on a video game in a long time.

breed boars
Successfully tamed a pair of boars and then promptly proceeded to accidently kill one. RIP is pig. I used your hide to upgrade my bow.
honey farm
Bees are loud and I was poisoned many times attempting to gather the queen bees. Now that I've taken up apiculture, I have no idea what to do with all of the honey.
kill the first boss to unlock more technology
No spoilers. Fire arrows are awesome and falling trees nearly killed me. And I have no idea what I unlocked but I'm pretty sure its awesome.
troll hunting
They are big, blue, and mean. I have scouted out several of them but got side tracked trying to find tin and copper ore to smelt into bronze.

This game does look tempting...

Add some Norwegian death metal and we might have a deal.
