Title: Company of Heroes 3
Post by: Martok on July 13, 2021, 08:05:21 PM
I don't know how many of us are still into RTS games these days, but I figured the announcement of a new CoH title was still worth a mention.  Looks like they're focusing on the campaigns in/around the Mediterranean this time.

If you have a Relic account (or create one), you can also play the pre-alpha build/demo for free (https://www.companyofheroes.com/).

They may be right, but be careful when considering the source.  I wouldn't trust anything published by RPS, even if they said the sky was blue.  Same goes for PCGamesN, for that matter.

Heh, no one.  It's just been my experience that around 90% of the articles produced by both sties are bullshit.  :P

You live in Minnesota.  Considering the high percentage of gray-sky days, I could understand your confusion  >:D

An ironic comment from someone who's already entered hurricane season.  ::)

No anger here.  It's amazing how much calmer & happier one is when not reading crap content from useless gaming websites.  ;)

I wanted to desperately love Company of Heroes and 2 - but it was just too fast for me. I remember there was a mod to slow the speed down - but that stopped working at some point.

I never could go back to it just because of the speed of play

I would love to see a version implement a combat system similar to the XCOM turn-based tactical battles.

AngryJoe seems to like it, with the caveat that there's obviously still a lot of work that needs to be done.

Really excited about this one, in part because it's a theater that doesn't show up in gaming very often.

Also, it does sound like there could be at least an active pause during which you can give orders.

I'll admit, the game's apparent focus on the Allied invasion of Italy definitely has a certain appeal.  If the gameplay isn't overly "arcade-y" and/or too much of a click-fest, I might be taking a serious look at this one.  At the very least, it's staying on my radar for the time being.
