OK, so which one of y'all wants to pen the comparative article that considers Civ 6 vs The Old World vs Humankind vs whatever else is out there   ?

Might be hard to do until Old World and Humankind are fully released. But they are different enough from each other that it would make a good article.
And no, that is not me volunteering. At least not until I retire.... ;)

I can wait.  At least Old World should be available on Steam by that point.  :P

Hopefully not that long.... aiming at July 2021 right now.  :)

Not me. There's only a few games that I would insta-buy. This is one.

Well I believe Old World's 1-year exclusivity on Epic will be done by then, so my point still stands.  ;D

Also:  Fingers crossed for your retirement!

I should really look at getting BB2 as well.

Explorminate takes a look at the OpenDev demo available on Stadia:

While it's still early days, Humankind appears to be deeper than Amplitude's previous games.  Setting aside any jokes regarding low bars and the clearing thereof, I'll admit I've gone from having mentally written this one off, to putting it back on my "maybe" list.  :fingerscrossed:

Yes/no/sort of.

Long story short, the site has pivoted to now just doing a weekly podcast discussing various 4x games, genre-related topics, and/or conducting the occasional interview.  No more articles, reviews, etc.  The Steam forums remain open and active, though not nearly as much as before.  (Our 4x forums here are now seeing close to the same level of activity, for example.)

2nd video is up.

Looks like a few of the options in the diplomacy screen could be improved for clarity's sake, but still looking pretty good overall.

One thing I noticed in the previous video is that recruiting military units costs you population, a feature that I see in very few other games (Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes is one of the only ones I'm aware of that also does this).  Hopefully it helps act as a check/balance against civilizations becoming too military aggressive.

I also appreciate the little touches, like zooming in and seeing people walking around your cities.  It definitely helps make the world come alive, and adds immersion.

You know what really sucks? I pre-ordered this on Steam and STILL I get no access to the demo scenarios?!?  >:(

...Which indirectly highlights yet another reason (not that I need more at this point :P ) why i don't pre-order games.  It just ain't worth it anymore -- if it ever was.

But hey, at least the Stadia demo is available for a few more days.  :D

The Open Dev scenarios have been closed down for a while now. On one can play them.

The demo scenario, different thing all together, is only available on Stadia, and only for a week so get playing fast!

There is nothing on Steam at all.
