A family friend was at the Washington game at old Griffith stadium.
As he recalled, the PA system announcer passed, "General so and so, call your office."
A few minutes later, "admiral pug and general mix call your office."
He said the crowd started murmuring because t his never happened.
Another minute or so and more people were told to call their office.
At this, even the players looked up.
The funny thing was that the stadium had practically no parking. If you drove, you either parked on the street or in empty lots for A dollar. The parking lot owners also went to the game when the lot was full, returning to let folks out after the game.
Gee Gerow, who was Marshall's Operations officer had to walk to Sixteenth street to catch the S bus. Then walk to the Munitions s Building on Constitution avenue.

"We've got the torpedo damage temporarily shored up, the fires out and soon will have the ship back on an even keel. But I would suggest, sir, that if you have to take any more torpedoes, you take 'em on the starboard side." Pops Healy, DCA USS Lexington.
