Title: GMT's Stalingrad '42
Post by: BanzaiCat on October 30, 2019, 09:45:31 AM
My copy of Stalingrad '42, my first P500, arrived last night. I didn't have time to do much with it other than unbox and take some pictures for an article here, but holy hell there's a lot of content here. Almost 1,000 counters, four maps, lots of player aid cards, a rule book and a play book...

...and damn, lo and behold but this puppy's maps are way too big for my gaming table. I can fit maybe one map on there, but not the set-up nor player aid cards, no way. Good thing two of the four scenarios only need one map, I think. But guess I'll need to buy myself a bigger board game table.  :D

Yeah, was seriously considering it but there's no way I actually play it. It will fit on my table but time, as always, is the limiter...  :(

BC, build yer own table.

Tell Jodi that I sent you

From experience, you can tell Jodi that he sent you but all you will get is a blank stare.

When you're purchasing furniture to support your gaming habit, you might have a problem... ;D

Three maps, I believe, as opposed to two in A'44.

In S'42? There's four maps total. GMT's site says three, but four are in the box, strangely enough.

I hate it when they screw up like that

According to BGG, its '4 Maps (2 full size, 2 small, total footprint 48" x 43.5")'

It's not a big surprise that BGG is more current than GMT's own website.

True. Its a fair size map though, innit - then there will be space needed for charts and so on. :-(

Seems there are some smaller scenarios as well.

Seems there are some smaller scenarios as well.

That's pretty common for GMT and a nice way to learn the game.

There are four scenarios, two of which only require one map, thankfully.

And GMT's site says there's five scenarios.  :D

In all seriousness, always check the Living Rules and such on the website. I know the game has just come out, but it is entirely possible there is new stuff on the website that isn't in the game box.

So we do, too. Ain't technology wonderful!. I merely posted that for the benefit of those poor unenlightened creatures who are unaware of the mythical Front page, or who are insufficiently adept to locate and peruse it.
