Jon Southard, designer of both Tokyo Express and Carrier (among other things), is making a new game called Carrier Battle: Philippine Sea.
Guess who is publishing it? ;)

I need to switch my paychecks from going directly to GMT to going directly to Compass Game. 8)
-
I want to know what kind of paycheque BC is getting from Compass for advertising all their games..... :P

None! I was just watching their town hall video. They do one every Thursday night and sometimes give away a free game, so...
I figured you guys would find these interesting.
-
I was watching it also BC. With C:PS and Crusader, that makes 18 pre orders in the last 3 weeks.
-
Pretty crazy how much they're putting out, and the names they have behind these games. Good stuff.
-
They've come a long way since that original subs in the Pacific game, Silent War...
-
Even Silent War is getting another re-treatment; they're going to box the IJN expansion in with it.
That's 18 pre-orders they have up now. I'm very tempted by three of them, because hey, you don't have to pay for it now...
-
I only have two games up on preorder, American Tank Ace and Devil Boats. I pay up front for my preorders. I find that it's a good way to keep from going overboard and getting a bunch of unexpected ( as in 'I forgot all about that!' ) hits to my finances.
-
I seem to remember playing this, or something similar, a very long time ago.

That's probably the best way to do it. I put myself down for two, but did 'pay later' and will leave it at that despite at least 2-3 others calling my name. I signed up for The Russian Campaign and Carrier Battle: Philippine Sea.
-
Pre-ordered! This is a must have for me. I mean, it's solo, it's Pacific, it's the Tokyo Express/Carrier dude... :D
-
Exactly!
Compass gives you an option to pay in advance, as Stags said. Or, you can sign up but pay for it later.
-
:bigthumb:
-
It's weird to feel so out of touch even in your own nerd niche.
Yet another solo-only game?
Hard pass.
Yet, this must be a strong part of the market.
Between this and the HeroQuest nonsense...

:2funny:
I have to agree with you on HQ. I sold my copy a few years ago...cool bits but it just wasn't very fun. I don't get why that needs a remake.

to make it more fun?

Note *I* said I don't get it, but plenty of others obviously do. :bigthumb:

Between this and the HeroQuest nonsense...
Sooooooooo stupid. Nostalgia for a ridiculous price! Ignore the seven billion other dungeon crawlers out there, all of which are better!
And that's if you're not in Canada, where the shipping alone is $135 US. No, I did not accidentally add a digit. Laughable.
-
Exactly why I didn't buy in on that 'Return to Dark Tower' nonsense.
-
Really? We are putting Carrier Battle: Philippine Sea in the same category as HeroQuest? ::)
-
-
Yours arrived?
That's awesome! Mine hasn't come yet...I'd never been charged, so I told sales@ about it, and they sent me a PayPal invoice, which I took care of...then silence.
-
I may be showing the first significant signs of age-related cognitive decline. A few nights ago I was hemming and hawing about putting in an order for this game but decided to wait a bit.
Today I'm sitting on the couch watching a YouTube vid about some dude repairing an Amstrad CPC464, when the postman knocked on my door and handed me a parcel that was heavier than it looked...
:idiot2:

well, now I know who is writing the review of it ;D
-
I'll get Starfury right on it- I hear he's almost done with that Panthers in the Fog review... or was it Tigers in the Mist?
