Is MINE! Mwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
$85 CAD all in, thanks to a local guy who was ordering also so we combined for slightly less shipping.
:D
-
I just hope the game doesn't go sideways on you.
-
Weird... same thing happened to OJ's birdfeeder pic. If you click on it, it comes up right way round....
Where's that code monkey when you need to beat him...
-
Very nice, Vance :bigthumb:

Four 22”x34” maps
Eight counters sheet, 2240 1/2” counters
Two rule/scenario books
Four 11”x17” setup charts.
The counters are SMALL! Been a long time since I played a game with 1/2” counters... now where is the magnifying glass...
-
Series rule book is only 8 pages!
The game rules are only another 8 pages!
Big, dumb monster indeed. :bigthumb:
-
And the full map fits on my table!
-
Certainly looks impressive. Hope you have enough counter trays! ;)
-
I came very close to pulling the trigger on this one, especially at that price. But there's no way I'd ever get it played.

dude, it's not like I lack for unplayed games, but I'm trying to do better... if I'm going to by more shelf-decorations, I'm trying to do it from the smaller publishers where one more game makes a bigger difference :)
-
That looks awesome, Barth!
-
Looks cracking. Too big though - and 1/2" counters :notme:
-
8 sheets of 1/2" counters. That is some clip-fest :-)
-
lol - indeed :applause:

:waiting:

Man that map layout looks so nice. Don't know much about this game or the Standard Combat Series so can you sum up its hook in a sentences?
-
Or haiku? :2funny:

This is my first Standard Combat System game. The “hook” for me was a $265 game on sale for $30 and it being a D-Day game which are favourites of mine. The map looks really good too.

Fair enough :)

I have some SCS games. They are like the old AH games like Bulge and Stalingrad, with a few improvements that keep playability but remove some of the faults of the early games.
$30 is a great price for that game.
-
The SCS games are pretty good. I've played a couple of them.
-
I picked up Panzer Battles on the Chir when it was on sale (of the SCS system), but have been distracted with other games. Day of Days is really neat looking though, I really need to give this system a spin sometime.
-
I wish I could get my hands on a copy of the original SCS 'Afrika', but its been OOP for ever.

Barth
The blurb says 4 22"x34" maps. What size are they actually together? I can see Utah going upwards. Also, how many maps are there? It doesn't look like 4x22x34!
I had a similar issue with the Deluxe Rommel game...when the maps pieced together, because they moved "up", there was no room for them on my table.
My "potential" game station is 35" deep (from me to the wall) but could spread to 60" wide - so I'd be interested to know the actual sizes...and that's something I wish game developers would put on the box when there's multiple map...the actual foot print when setup.
-
There are 4 maps, each is 22"x34". They over lap by about 3/4 of a hex each sheet to the next when assembled. The last is offset up by 19 hexes.
Final dimensions are 86-3/16" long x 44-1/8" deep.

lmao...snooker table required - with space to move around.
I'll skip...thankfully. :peace:
-
LOL every time I read the word 'snooker,' this guy comes to mind

Yeah, my table's playing surface is 94"x46". There's just room for the map and some of the charts around the edge. Rule books will have to sit a on a chair while I play.

BC, you may not know, but Andy Capp comes from my part of the world, or anyway, a bit further south in Hartlepool.
Its said that the cartoonist based the character on a bloke he saw at a Hartlepool football match who took of his cap and put it in his pocket to keep it dry when it started raining :-)
-
Inspired by your monster game I was able to get Panzer Battles on the Chir to the table. I'm not normally a ww2 guy but man this ruleset is so great. So pleasantly surprised with SCS and this little game.
-
:bigthumb:
It may not be the most detailed or historically accurate rule set, but you can learn it and play fast once you get going. DoD was my first game in the series and I might have to look in to more of them.
