I figure there's six of you that would read this and maybe three that would vote (lol), but if any of you have experience with any of these games. It'll be a month or so before I can get another one but these have my eye at the moment. Thanks!

I have a buddy who is into  BCS and so I've had a look at 'Baptism of Fire' - its a monster and there is a lot to learn.

The '42/43 type games are very good and I have played a couple of them. That would be the one I'd get.

The 'Afrika' one I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

Where's the option for "None of the above?"  ;)

I actually don't really like games.

You boys and your Napoleonics... ;)

Bob, what's wrong with African Campaign? I seem to recall now that you had issue with it but can't recall what, exactly. (I'm actually OK with not getting that one as its $73 and would take me a bit longer to get.)

Kasserine looked fairly simple - and I'd been looking closely at it as it seemed simple. Thanks for that info.

I'd been leaning to either 11th Panzer or Ukraine '43.  After seeing Marcowargamer's great review of it, that slid me that direction, but I wanted to know if y'all had any experience with any of the others (and looks like Bob, you indeed have).

Personal choice really, but it is a re-do of a much earlier game. My own opinion, for what its worth, is that few, if any, games on the campaign have been better than the old SPI game, 'Desert Fox' and its expansion - if you can find them.

I also have 'Rommels War' which is pretty good, and you also have the NA game in the 'No Retreat' series which is not bad although I'm not a great one for card driven games. Coming soon(?) from GMT is 'The Dark Sands' which looks good.

As for the BCS games, I found them to be over-complicated, especially for solo play - but that's just me.

If Ukraine '43' uses the same basic system as the other games in the series; Ardennes '44, Normandy '44, Holland '44 etc, then that is definitely the one I'd go for.

11th Panzer is not one I've played although I have played a few from the SCS games. These are pretty solid albeit fairly simple, but usually fun to play. I could go for that.

Hope the ramblings of ye olde gamer helps!

I keep thinking about picking up Holland '44 but then I look at my backlog of unplayed games and how many are still coming from KS.... I think my brain is finally filling up....

I looked at that too but it's way too much bookkeeping.

Yes, I've been tempted by that, and rumour has it that mirth has a copy still in shrink.................Oh, and 'Normandy '44 I would rate as one of the best games I've played. It would be nice if there was an expansion to take it a little further time-wise. Excellent game and highly recommended if you like Normandy game, especially at the operational level.
