Man that map layout looks so nice.  Don't know much about this game or the Standard Combat Series so can you sum up its hook in a sentences?

This is my first Standard Combat System game. The “hook” for me was a $265 game on sale for $30 and it being a D-Day game which are favourites of mine. The map looks really good too.

I have some SCS games.  They are like the old AH games like Bulge and Stalingrad, with a few improvements that keep playability but remove some of the faults of the early games.

$30 is a great price for that game.

I’ve spent half my life’s earning on wargames, women, and drink. The rest I wasted.

The SCS games are pretty good. I've played a couple of them.

I picked up Panzer Battles on the Chir when it was on sale (of the SCS system), but have been distracted with other games. Day of Days is really neat looking though, I really need to give this system a spin sometime.

And the full map fits on my table!
Barth

The blurb says 4 22"x34" maps. What size are they actually together? I can see Utah going upwards. Also, how many maps are there? It doesn't look like 4x22x34!

I had a similar issue with the Deluxe Rommel game...when the maps pieced together, because they moved "up", there was no room for them on my table.

My "potential" game station is 35" deep (from me to the wall) but could spread to 60" wide - so I'd be interested to know the actual sizes...and that's something I wish game developers would put on the box when there's multiple map...the actual foot print when setup.

There are 4 maps, each is 22"x34". They over lap by about 3/4 of a hex each sheet to the next when assembled. The last is offset up by 19 hexes.

Final dimensions are 86-3/16" long x 44-1/8" deep.

Yeah, my table's playing surface is 94"x46". There's just room for the map and some of the charts around the edge. Rule books will have to sit a on a chair while I play.

BC, you may not know, but Andy Capp comes from my part of the world, or anyway, a bit further south in Hartlepool.

Its said that the cartoonist based the character on a bloke he saw at a Hartlepool football match who took of his cap and put it in his pocket to keep it dry when it started raining :-)
