I'm using Edge and am not logged into aarcentral, never heard of it  ???.

It's a forum I started 13 years ago. I still use the server to host files and pictures.  8)

It should be sorted now. I noticed that when I tried right-clicking an image and chose "Open Image in a new tab" it wasn't working. The old forum was deteriorating after thirteen years and I recently brought it up to date. I also added an SSL Certificate to the site to make it safe. I believe that .htaccess file was routing everything to the forum because of the SSL addition. Let me know if everything is good now.

Bob, don't listen to any of the above. Go have a nice cup of cocoa instead.  8)

I've tried it on a couple of different laptops and it works. No idea what else to check.

Okay, so one more thing to try. See if it works now.

So it was the SSL Certificate thing. The images I posted had HTTP:// instead of HTTPS:// in the link.  8)

Yup, I see the images now.

Though this would have made a good Front Page feature, eh, Brant? :)

http is being redirected to https incorrectly.  You can see it with this image:

the https url displays fine:
https://www.aarcentral.com/HHTM/Civ4/whattodo.png

http for the same image redirects to the base forum url:
http://www.aarcentral.com/HHTM/Civ4/whattodo.png

Base on what you mentioned, https is being forced in the htaccess file (probably using some regex which is easy enough to get wrong).

It is possible to force https for everything and have it path/display correctly. Sometimes it's a PITA to get right. SSL and https are finicky with good reason and htacess use is an art unto itself. Easy to play with and easy to eff-up.

Welcome to web dev.

htaccess can be a pain to deal with because there can be a lot of variation in how to correctly write the rules and you often don't know right from wrong until you check the site to see if it's up or down. Tanking a whole server because of an htacess mistake is lots of fun. At least in this case you just broke a bunch of http urls. Everyone does that.

I salute web developers. Finding a problem is like trying to debug a program that's spread out across 5 dimensions. In machine language.

Troubleshooting for web is a lot of trial and error mixed with guess work. In this case, I saw your htacess/SSL comment and I fiddled around with the image URL based on that info.

URL rewriting always causes issues, no matter how certain you are that it's been done correctly. I've worked in htaccess because no one else wanted to or knew how. I didn't either, but I was good at breaking things and reverting back quickly.

bbmike - the Home menu item on your website is broken. It is linked to this:   https//myownworstenemy.aarcentral.com/   (missing the colon after https)
