That is an interesting battle.  It was going well for the north (pitting Bishop Polk versus George Thomas could only sound good to Braxton Bragg) until Rosecrans made a fatal mistake.
Not checking a report of a gap, he ordered another division to cover it.  This created a real gap.
I don't know if Longstreet discovered this gap and attacked, or if it was just happenstance he hit the right spot.
Since most accounts say the Yankees had set up breastworks, it would be interesting to see if the Rebs could punch through.

"We've got the torpedo damage temporarily shored up, the fires out and soon will have the ship back on an even keel. But I would suggest, sir, that if you have to take any more torpedoes, you take 'em on the starboard side."   Pops Healy, DCA USS Lexington.

I am playing this at the moment. It’s an astoundingly beautiful game, map, counters, all of it.
I have next to no knowledge of the the battle or even of the ACW. So I’m reading stuff as I go.

The game it self plays well and smoothly once you grok the rules, which is not a hard thing to do. Lots to do and lots of decisions to be made during a turn.

My problem is that I’m not as engaged with the game as I would be with something say from WWII that I have years of researching and playing. So I play for a bit then lose interest, leave it for a few days to a week, come back play a turn or two then leave it again.
So far I’m only up to 1pm on Day 1!  Each turn is 1 hour. So slow going. It’s playing out much like history, at least my reading of it, did. But not sure if the game is driving that or my limited knowledge of the battle/era. I’m playing solo so there’s some of that two minded gaming going on too.

I do like the game systems…. Just need to get more invested in the actual battle somehow….

So are you still basically just fighting with Buford's cavalry and bringing up I Corps?

I have it on my table now too and I am at the Evening turn on July 1st. I love seeing how the battle plays out, the stream of reinforcements, and the realistic decisions I am trying to make for each side - alongside the chrome with the card mechanics and leader activation rolls.

Do you plan on getting the 'Pipe Creek' expansion?
