 So a good place to start would be to find a copy of the game, to learn the rule-set I take it ?  ...... Hope their is another option since the game is currently going for $319.99 on ebay

Understanding a few basic aspects doesn't hurt, and I've found lessens questions for the umpire...but yes, you can just sit back and let Jim do all the hard work if you'd like!

Also note we only play the "Basic" rules -- with a few tweaks.

The other bits are fascinating, but I've never found the flame worth the candle.

Arneson and Gygax seem to have gotten the idea for the DM and a DM-moderated game from the KS so, yeah...

If I was needed to join it seems like I would need a map. A where are my forces.  Who are my forces.  Who are the other forces on my side. Where are they supposedly at. Finally where is the Enemy supposedly, and what is his supposed makeup.
 I take it that all this is provided (minus the map) in one way or another.

Posting here just in case...

So I'm pretty well ready to roll.  Must do final pre-flights.But I've thought about this a LOT and want to ask:

If I opened up a Discord server for this, how many would NOT be able to join it, for whatever reason?

If there's only one or two I can handle an extra e-mail.

It just seemed like there was broad comfort with that as an option.

Shout quickly if it's a problem, please?

I don't mind discord, but if it is possible I would still like to be BCc'd on any time updates by email. It's just a much better reminder for me to get things done than having an update come through discord.

Despite the preference of some for Discord, it looks like there's enough that really want to be on e-mail that I'll stay there.

Not to beat this dead horse, and I know and respect that our fearless and generous Umperor has decreed that we will play via email...

But I have a lot of issues with Discord... way too many channels, lack of threaded conversations, etc. However, it is a perfect format for KS.
