And without going too far afield, I get frustrated when people think that we are heading toward nuclear armageddon when we supply Ukraine with materiel and arms. We have a long history throughout the Cold War of supplying arms to forces fighting the USSR (and Russians) while they have done the same for us. We've exchanged fire and killed each other (Soviet advisors over North Vietnam, for instance) -- and here, in more modern times, in Syria.
We aren't one misstep from nuclear war with the Russians, as both sides have long learned to play this game without escalating.
