Solo games are not my preference, but I get that my preference is not that of others.

I am somewhat bothered by the increasing number of solitaire only games. It's eliminating a number of interesting games that I would otherwise buy. I prefer a design approach that allows for both solo and multi-player modes of play.

I like to play games solitaire but I also prefer games that allow for both.

I like to play games solitaire but I also prefer games that allow for both.

A lot of those solitaire games do have some provision for having a second person take over part of the cardboard AI's moves.

For example, in Interceptor Ace you can play both co-operatively or competitively.

Only enough, since the game has an RPG element to it and is set before 1944 (the point when all persons in Hitler's presence were searched for weapons), if you are presented by him with an important medal you can choose to pull your side arm and try to kill him.

- If you fail the bodyguards kill you and the game ends.

- If you succeed you will be a hero. A posthumous one, since the bodyguards will kill you and the game ends

Some do, but I think mirth is correct in that more games seem to be coming out without that option.

Again, all of the solo game hate.

Solo tabletop is something that I've always been interested in but have never pulled the trigger. In principle it sounds like fun but I always get discouraged at the setup time and just play a computer game instead.

Setting up a game, much like clipping counters, can be very therapeutic.  8)

Unfortunately the post-cat or post-toddler environmental factors lead to more therapy. :(

As always, if solo is your thing, please go and do with all the blessings you care to receive.

I just don't get their appeal.

Between TTS and on-line play generalls -- with a moment or two set aside for occasional games of "Gloomhaven" -- my dance card is full of games I can play with my friends.  That, and the fact that I know damn well I'll never play all the games I already have as much as I would like, makes it easy to pass on solo games.

Add into the mix a theme I really like and they can make me downright crabby.

If you don't have friends what are you so busy doing Saturday nights that you can't show up for Saturday Night Fights? We allow whisky and drunkenness.

And don't blame your spouse. We will check.

I actually don't really like games.

His spouse will be checking too. He's been telling her he spends Saturday night gaming with friends.
