Title: Aliens: Bug Hunt

A new game from Upper Deck that just hit stores. The description on BGG is:

Quote
"They mostly come at night...mostly" —Newt

Your challenge in Aliens: Bug Hunt is to complete the mission and evacuate the complex because these xenomorphs converging from every direction are heartless, smart, relentless, and hungry.

Pick your favorite character from the movie Aliens, each with a unique ability. Every role is critical as players rely on each other to cover their six and make it out alive. The complex is comprised of thirty different location tiles to create different challenges. Private Hudson might ask whether this is a stand-up fight or just another bug hunt; the real question is who's hunting who?

There's precious little info on BGG on this game right now, but there IS a BGG Con demo video:

Just so happens I'll be getting a copy of this, along with Martin, to review for the Solosaurus podcast. I think I'll do a written review too when it's fresh in my mind, for AD.

Hoi, and does anyone else recall if some extended 'Version' of this 'Movie' had their 'Scene' where "Auto-Guns" are emplaced to engage the 'Aliens', to where the 'Ammo' was almost "used up" in the end, until it concluded? They were keeping a constant 'count down' of "rounds" remaining as this kept shooting those UP/DOWN, before only a few "rounds"-(2--3 apiece) had been leftover. What a 'mess' that should have made, especially FROM copious 'acid bloodbathesings'!

I think it was a directors cut. I know I have seen it a couple of time.

Yeah, the scenes with the autoguns were not in the original theatrical version or following cable/VHS releases. IIRC, the studio though the film was too long so something had to be cut.

They were put back in for later DVD versions.I'm pretty certain you can find them on YouTube as well.

I was always surprised that they left out something so good from the original movie.

Yep, it was in the Director's Cut.

The auto-guns are not in Bug Hunt, but do make an appearance in Another Glorious Day in the Corps.

I was always surprised that they left out something so good from the original movie.

Fox already thought the film was too long. If I recall correctly, they were most unimpressed upon seeing the dailies and noting there's no action of any kind until well after the first hour.

I guess this is why directors hate suits' interference. In this case they were very clearly wrong, as the tension ratchets up masterfully under Cameron's direction.
