I forgot to take photos but spent the last couple of days a miniatures convention. Played a couple of games of Black Powder, a variant of Flames of War, Wings of Glory, and spent a lot of time talking to old dudes and browsing the merchants.

I was rather restrained my purchases...sort of...a little bit restrained. Rulebooks for Lion's Rampant, Clash of Spears, and Sharp's Practice (this is getting mailed to me). The boys and I bought some boxes from Perry Miniatures Battle of Agincourt line to build an English and French routines for Lion's Rampant.

No photos but I think there is a future discussion for the podcast regarding the current and future state of historical miniatures wargaming.

I forgot to mention my role as GM for my boys games of Memoir 44 and Ogre. Memoir 44 is, of course, a great introductory wargame. I had never played Ogre before but they loved it and picked up on the rules very quickly. It ended in an Ogre victory with it having only one secondary gun and level 1 treads left at the end of the game.

Enemy Action Ardennes
It comes with 3 games - German Solo, Allied Solo and 2 player. It cost a fair bit but there's a fair bit there (at least 2 games for me...the German and Allied Solo maps and mechanisms)

This is from a favourite designer of mine...John Butterfield. He created RAF:Battle of Britain 1940

It has a unique mechanic (at least I've never come across it) where when combat occurs, you draw a variable number of chits from a cup - and they determine what the outcome will be. It's odd but I'm looking forward to giving it a go.
Well - I do have a bulge (puns are welcome)

1SS Panzer Corps is having a hard time against V Corps up north but 47th Panzer Corps are pushing through with 85th Corps and 58th Panzer Corps planning to shore up the flanks (I hope)

I have a plan - but it often gets thwarted by Allied deployments. 1 SS Panzer Corps lack of movement and stiffening defence from 5th Corps is annoying. Also I might have to hold up 47th Panzer Corps until other units get in place - or they could get cut off

My wife and I spent the past weekend in a cabin, so I brought this game with me.  I like the format and had high hopes for some good adventures.  There are 8 missions, and you are supposed to try each one 3 times.  Each mission is supposed to be harder, more or less, than the previous missions.  That's probably good, because I think I won 8 out the first 9 missions.  I lost interest about halfway through and started reading the bocage rules for ASL instead.  It was fun for a while, and the $30 price is about right.  Eventually I will probably finish all the missions and maybe try some different strategies.

I’ve spent half my life’s earning on wargames, women, and drink. The rest I wasted.

Ah, I got it and "modded" it for usability - made it ring bound with one acetate sheet over every mission map - although have yet to play it.

There is a 1000 piece Boston Redsox puzzle on my man cave table right now.  I did not put it there.  My daughter is working on it.  What this means is that I won't have any board games on my table for a while.

Don't be afraid, don't be dismayed
