I went to Udvar Hazy the day after Christmas.  I took my daughter and her husband.  It was a great day to go because it wasn't crowded.

Definitely on my bucket list.  :bigthumb:

Did you go in the restoration hanger? Was the Go229 visible?

Yes, but did you board Air Force One at National Harbor?  8)

I did not go to the restoration hanger this time.  Actually, I don't think anyone is allowed in there, but there is a viewing platform to look down into the hanger.

When I was there a couple of years ago, the 229 was in the restoration hanger, but now it is out on the floor, and you can walk right up to it.  It hasn't been fully restored, so the only thing to see is the center section.  It didn't seem to get much interest, maybe because it's right outside the space hanger where Discovery is displayed, and that seems to draw a big crowd (as it should).  And without wings, it's pretty small and a little forlorn.  I don't think most people walking by understood what they were looking at.

Is that some sort of mock-up?  Or did AF1 miss Andrews AFB by 10 miles?

My wife and I were thinking of going to National Harbor tonight or tomorrow.  I guess I"ll be on the lookout for Air Force One.

Yeah, there's a replica AF1 at National Harbor. The wife and I toured it right before Christmas. Hardly anyone was there. Overall I was disappointed with the exhibit. A lot of the plane's sections were closed off.

Nice pics!

I got a pic of AF1 when Trump visited Phoenix, but the shot isn't very good. I did get a pic of Marine One as it flew low overhead.

I was not aware of that.  Looks like tickets are $35 at peak, but since you didn't think it was that great, we'll probably pass.

I think the tickets are too expensive for what you get. The wife was able to snag a Groupon deal and I thought it was still overpriced.
