One big change in 'The Renaissance' is the 2d look.

...and it is looking like I need to post in on a different host in its actual size...  :tickedoff: ::) ;D

It is always a bit dishonest to look through the telescope backwards, but, mercy, how did we ever allow or tolerate that original color palette?

Mostly we didn't, or the size of the units, which is why we didn't play it as much. Almost from the go I've modded the map. Whoever thought that terrain should be various shades of acid green...  :dunno:

I also have to be honest and say that I dislike the 3D units and terrain in this one even more than I do in all of the other titles, and that's saying something. I know that the guy that did those was widely admired, and is now deceased, but I just never could stand the look.

Two words:  VGA Palette

Yeah, that's what it was. The engine was set up for that, IIRC. Forgot how unpleasant that was...

You get four colors. One of them will be cyan. What's not to like?

True, but I have standards ... I can do better than leaving it like that. :)   Link below.

I knew what Cyan was, but I had to look it up to see what it looked like.

Look on the bright side... if corners are cut in resizing (and the background colour of the file is cyan...) ... you get more cyan  (just like cowbell). :D

Played and still playing some 7YW pbems with default options:

Quote
-029.The Battle of Reichenberg
-053.Sandershausen - July 23, 1758
-033.Prague The Fall of Legends - May 6, 1757
-071.Warburg - July 31, 1760
-076.Torgau The Sheep Ponds - November 3, 1760

Tbh, most were defeat for me (as my opponents played so well i guess so i hit rough weather lol ^^) but most or all scenarios i played so far generated excitement. After having and played so many charge charge nappy titles, a different style and era game helped me to have what i was looking for for a jts musket type game. Brilliant manoeuvres, smoky musket duels, rare but effective charges, careful cavalry movements, attentive arty deployments, necessity of fresh reserves...

* My favorite so far is 071.Warburg and my ranking would be like that:

Quote
JTS 7YW Scenarios (pbem):
1) 071.Warburg - July 31, 1760 (28 turns)
2) 029.The Battle of Reichenberg (20 turns)
3) 076.Torgau The Sheep Ponds - November 3, 1760 (12 turns)
4) 033.Prague The Fall of Legends - May 6, 1757 (10 turns)
5) 053.Sandershausen - July 23, 1758 (14 turns)
...

Congrats to the creators of JTS 7YW.
Will give more opinions on scenarios rankings after playing more pbems.

I agree on Warburg. Cyrano and I playtested that one.

It’s been awhile since I played REN but I do not remember the color scheme being so bright. I need to figure out the process to convert my CD game version to a digital code. IIRC JTS offers a way to do this.
