I had a pretty good load of Amazon credit from surveys so I bought Tiny Epic Defenders to play with my son until it's time to move. I tried to read the rules to VPG's Barbarossa too, but too much going on to be able to focus on a board game this weekend. Hopefully this week.

I was going to start a learning play through of Empire of the Sun last night but my current gaming table is too small for the map. I’m relegated to a small 36”X36” card table at the moment. The map is around 38” so it hung over the edges of the table with no room for the player aid cards. I need to get a slightly larger table and just pull out the card table as a side table when necessary for some extra space for things like player aid cards or counter trays.

I'll be adding this to the pile on Sunday

https://www.amazon.com/Dark-Sands-North-Africa-1940-42/dp/B07LGF5T64

Thankfully it’ll remain unplayed for the foreseeable future. :P

Like most of my multiplayer games of late, my own copy of Dark Sands remains hermetically sealed for freshness.

The oldest’s campaign ended tonight in a hilarious party wipe. I rolled two natural “1”s in consecutive death saving throws. The youngest died while looting my corpse. And the wife’s paladin died from a couple of fire bolts cast by the evil necromancer.

Ha!  Is this her first TPK, or is she already an experienced "killer"?  :D

Yes it was.She was really trying hard not to kill the party but after I spectacularly failed my death saves -the outcome was clear  Sadly the adventure was a premade one from the DM Guild label as a 1st level adventure. The final boss was a necromancer with 78 hit points (12d8 HIt Dice) and access to level three spells. Basically a 9 to 10 level magic user.

I knew something wicked this way comes when the very first encounter was 6 skeletons and 3 zombies...😳

I don’t think the wife would play. She was less than thrilled to have spent six hours playing only to die...I so want to break out OD&D to demonstrate the truly lethal era of D&D.

I like how this thread for Mirth has literally regressed to just putting a game box on the table. Close enough to be played for me,
