Just got in Interceptor Ace.

Normally I make it a rule to never remove the shrink-wrap from my games so as to ensure their freshness for decades to come but this game cam with some extra counter stickers taped to the box and I knew they would get lost or ruined if I just left them there on the outside so I had to crack 'er open...

I received my copy last Thursday. The designer said on FB that they included double the stickers in case you mess any of them up. I did one on a blank counter but didn't like the look of it so I didn't bother with the others. I'm going to wait and see if game play demands their inclusion.

When you open the box there's an Errata sheet, which wasn't generating a lot of confidence (Nightfighter Ace had a few print issues though nothing game-breaking).

Overall though the game looks a lot better than Nightfighter Ace. That map of Europe, there's one like it in Nightfighter Ace but I never bothered with using it as it took up a lot of space to indicate only a few pieces of information, which were not all that difficult to keep track of without it. This one looks useful at least insofar as having spaces for the Combat Deck draw and discard piles.

Thanks to Fine Games (and let's be honest, that's mirth's fault), I have Hunt For Red October coming my way this Wednesday. I'm also looking to trade with a guy on BGG for Red Storm Rising, to make a mega-WW3 game of the two. The guy that owns RSR lives near me and is a game developer on top of that, too.

Mainly I'm looking to convert my daughter's boyfriend to wargaming. I've since gotten him BIG into board gaming, but the real test will be to see if he likes wargames, and either of these are light enough I think to be good entry-level games to play at Christmas.

I knew you'd do that

I also got Princess Ryan's Star Marines and Red God Of War, Operation Mars 1942

PRSM I know isn't the most highly-rated game but I've always wanted a copy of it, and RGOW was pretty cheap and covered an aspect of the Russian Front I don't know much about.

Yeah I'm justifying it however I can, lol. Though I am getting rid of quite a few games.

Well if Barth is buying my set of Tide of Iron, that's a heck of a stack there.

I'm also planning on giving my daughter's boyfriend several of my unopened/unplayed games. The kid, my daughter said, has bought fifteen games this semester while at college. What a good kid. He'll be a hoarder in no time.

And y'all just jealous.

Currently have Atlantic Storm: Admiral's Edition on my table, from Lock 'n Load.

It's basically a trick-taking card game with the Battle of the Atlantic as a wrapper.

I tried the solo game as the Germans earlier today, and the Allies wiped the floor with me. After they were up 30-0 in VPs after winning three hands in a row I gave up. I'm not convinced this was a fun time but want to put some more time into it.

anyhooow, bitter woods (designer edition from compass games) is laid out and ready to rumble - i mean, it's this season, right?! 8)

i found a pretty recent (last year's summer) playthrough on YT and was once more surprised by it's simplicity! a solid games with good rules and very good solo playability!

here's the link if someone's into bulge madness for cold winter days:
