Title: Command Modern Operations
Post by: Undercovergeek on December 03, 2019, 02:30:50 PM
Is anyone playing it?

I’m looking for an AAR, any positive feedback at all but all I can find is bitching about tac view, bitching about the price and bitching about whether you can or can’t get steam to recognise a discount

I have CMANO, but I doubt I'll get this new one any time soon. Too many games...

I've got it but haven't played it much at all - so I'm of no use to you I'm afraid.

Steam DID recognise the discount. I bought it through Steam and it gave me the 50% off for having the original.

I've got it but I've been having a lot of issues with it freezing, crashing, or displaying corrupted graphics.  Support has been lacklustre.

How close to 'post WW2' is the game capable of getting? Could you actually sim some of the last battles there of? There was a lot of Axis hardware left over and used in the ME and in places like Czechoslovakia and a lot of excess Soviet gear was handed out left and right so creating some 1945 EF or WF scenarios would be interesting.

The database does have a lot of WWII and Korean War era ships.  There were quite a few user made scenarios that offered WWII era fights but I found the engine didn't handle combat that well when everything was reliant on eyeballs and rudimentary radar.

CMANO scenarios are transferable over to CMO.  Not sure if there are any issues as I'm still doing the tutorials.  My game crashes a lot so I have to replay them over and over.

At least they've maintained fidelity to 30 years of Harpoon.

I haven't had any issues with crashes.  But the performance of the game isn't the best.

I'm running on a Ryzen 3 5 1600x with 16gb of RAM and an M.2 SSD drive.

I found a scenario on Steam Workshop tonight that does a WW3 battle.  You're the W. Germans and have some mechanized infantry, fixed defenses, and air support.  It ran pretty slow and even paused some.  One of the major issues I saw is that every weapon fire is recorded in the log, so every heavy machine gun, tank gun, or bomb drop.  That's a lot going on.

The name of the scenario is CMGO - Frontal Assault - Mixed Forest/Grassland #1.  I'd like to know if anyone else has performance issues with it.  I don't think it's all that large of a scenario.
