Hope this is right place for this,
I am a Scifi fantasy Illustrator, wanted to share my newest style test with you all. I love how much character paperback covers from back in the day used to have. So I am trying to market this hoping somebody feels the same way I do would hire me for a project. You can check out the example pieces at my website https://www.jthorenzart.com/vintage-1 (https://www.jthorenzart.com/vintage-1)
let me know what you think. If you know for somebody who would be interested I would love to hear

Having been reading SciFi since my teens, I've always had a soft spot for a lot of the old paperback cover artwork; there have been some real classics, although to be honest, I never really paid a lot of attention to the artists themselves.

I'm with Bob, I love the old SciFi book covers. I spent many years in my teens in used book stores admiring (and buying) them.

Those were whiskey labels. You were in the liquor store.

Sometimes the lines blur:

Then again, that's also probably the whiskey. :D

Yeah I was the same, I more recently started to go back and look at the illustrators. one of my painting professors always made us, so its become a force of habbit ever since.

I had that edition of DUNE :bigthumb:
-
go check out Henry Vogel's twitter feed, where he had a "SciFi Daily" feature running for months with a lot of different classic book/magazine covers
-
I remember an edition of Robert Heinlein's 'Glory Road' that had a particularly striking cover.

If you search for classic Sci Fi book art on Google Images you get countless results. The one thing I wish I could find is somewhere to see just the art without the text and other stuff on the cover like this (from one of my favorite authors):

Simak wrote some great books :bigthumb:

I scored a commission from the author of the children's book series I did the proposal for in my previous post . Posting the two variations I did, and also pictures from along the way. This piece was a lot of fun to create especially the hair.

Great work!

I am so glad you guys are enjoying them! One of the elements that I find most rewarding working in illustration is to be able to bring a persons wonderful idea and building upon it to bring our eyes closer to his or her vision.
-
The details in your artwork are amazing. The fish carved into the stone wall on the right in Daemon Bright Eyes and the emblem on the shield in Atla are great. Thank you for sharing your work with us.

My pleasure Tolstoi! Its so great to share this with a community that I know will get a kick out of it. Those elements were both very fun to paint. and was very happy with the yellow and blue contrast (stone fish) in that area. Here is one more commission for the goblin player just finished tonight.

A little about him
Nurmon is a space dude, a bad space dude. A silent terror for any rebel squad he walks toward. He Lumbers with wide shoulders, a gargantuan silhouette. While his strength can crush he forgoes giving his adversaries the sweet release from the hell that has become planet Zeta. On the battlefield he performs a twisted transformation of ones flesh and bone. Creating a malformed horde of sycophants who wish only to prove there strength. His Origin is unknown to the rebels, all they know is his defeat is a prime objective to winning planet Zeta back.
