Not sure if this has been posted before, but I did not see it. I've always been fascinated by the story of the Lady Be Good, a B-24 bomber that was lost over the North African desert due to some tragic miscalculations. They ended up bailing out over the North African desert; one died when his parachute did not open but that would not be discovered for years. The others met up and thought they were only 100 miles from their base on the coast, but they were actually 440 miles. Slowly but surely, they could go no further, and all perished in the desert.
