There's a video showing it off on Twitch. This was created with AGEOD's new game engine!

Yeah this single thing could get me to buy into the series as I don't have any of the FoG stuff.
Imagine a game with the entire forum playing....

I don't own any of the FoG computer games. I was not a huge fan of the TT rules (I think I still own a couple of the books).

I am definitely interested in a grand strategy FoG game.

Corrections below.

Every game like this begins with a design document, right?

This one misfires [[mightily]] on a number of levels.

Most aggravating, however:

1.  Seriously, guys, we've done the TW empire building stuff to death, haven't we?  For the love of God, just design a well-crafted area-control boardgame.  Your chimerical pursuit of verisimilitude is getting tedious.

[[2:  The tactical games are non-interactive?  I love the fact that well into the video they have to explain that, yeah, for all the effort and time you spend planning your army, you don't get to, you know, command them.  The presenters seem to know this is a nonsense and try to paper over it.  Shoot, Victory and Glory and Conquest of the New World had simplified interactive resolution.

Oh, I know why they're dong it too.

Wait for it.

Async play.]]

>>Upon more careful review, it is indeed so, as Mike indicated, that the fights may be exported to FoG2.  It is the simplified system that is non-interactive which is sensible.  I stand (and I am standing) corrected.<<

I'll be over at the staring window [[hating]]  >>regretting<< the fact that this [[rubbish]] >>game<< is in the queue in front of live MP in FoG2 and FoG Naps.

>>I am clearly over-caffeinated and resentful re no live MP in FoG2.  The overworld stuff remains a yawner for me, though.

Meh. I'm not much interested in the tactical games for this system anyway. It's something I'd much rather do on the tabletop with other rules.

Not sure I understand your 2nd point. It says:

And, if you want even more direct control, Field of Glory: Empires lets you export and load your battles into Field of Glory II and then load the results back into Field of Glory: Empires!

This seems to contradict a clear statement in the video.  An option?  I’ll get the marker for the remark later.

Oh, and @Mirth, the strategic layer seems horribly derivative.

Sure and the tactical games are super original.

FoG2?

Brings a lot to the table not seen since Interactive Magic’s games...which FoG2 bests by a small margin.

Pleased to have your stipulation that the strategic layer here is derivative, though.
