We've now spent several months developing new rules and revising the original 'Assault - Red Horizons '41' rules. and testing new features and scenario's. Wolfgang is now getting ready for the next steps in the production process and launch the pre-order stuff.
There is a lot in the box with this, and, apart from several stand-alone scenario's, an excellent dynamic campaign based around the Gela landings by US forces, so expect Airborne and Rangers plus regular army troops. The game includes elements from several Italian formations plus 15th Panzer Division, HG Pz Div and even a couple of Tiger I's from 504th Heavy Panzer Battalion.

Wanted to give an update on the Assault Sicily 43 project... Yes, we are progressing and are happy to announce that our pre-production samples are close to their shipment. Based on the samples we will do a last quality check and then we start to prepare our funding race for this... I have to say we are really proud to have this box with so much content up. And to the question about the game featurse I want to share this:
- Players: 2-4+ (great solo playability)
- Age: 14+ years
- Game Scale: Squad and team level infantry units, individual vehicles and artillery
- Turn time: 5-30 minutes
- Game time: 1 hour - 3+ hours, scenario dependent
- Fast paced and unique customized dice system
- 40 challenging scenarios
- Campaign for 'Gela Beachhead': Unique historcally based dynamic campaign play including troops management
- 64 different unit types (US Army, Italian Army, German Wehrmacht)
- Complexity: 4-6 out of 10 (medium)
- Optional rules that ease the entry into the game system
- Replay value: 10 out of 10
- This game is combinable with the Eastern Front module: Assault Red Horizon 41
And yes, we will bring the Commonwealth Formations (Brits, Can.) for Sicily 43 - but in a later on expansion - a campaign fighting around the Primosole Bridge - Unfortunently we had to put this content into a separate box. And we also want to offer these factions a really good framework.

Since I'm involved in the playtesting, I can assure you that this is a great package that is bursting with content. Its also a pleasure to say that we have introduced a few new rules and revised and streamlined others to make the game even more fun.

Yep - the big box is packed full of goodies :-) The Campaign game has been very well designed and there are a few stand-alone scenario's. We have also spent a lot of time and effort in streamlining and improving the rules, so its even better that Assault '41, and that itself is a game that is excellent.

lol - well, it adds the OBA and tactical air rules to the game, and there are 4 new scenario's (2 of which were written by me) designed to introduce the new rules. I should add that the Sicily game has the OBA and Tac Air built-in to it. The first expansion for this next game will include the British and Primosole bridge, so we will have para's against para's!

I want to give an update on our Assault Sicily 43 project.
The Gamefound page is now setup and the countdown for the start is running.
Now we have to gain a sufficient number of subscribers to achieve a proper funding.

Time to share some words again!
Last weeks were challenging. Wanted to share some words about our experiences at Spiel´23 Essen which is the world largest board game fair!
Assault Games was there and we shown Assault Sicily 43:
So much attention, many interested wargamers came to our stand and wanted to get an impression of Assault Sicily 43.
A highlight was the visit of Michael (https://theboardgameschronicle.com/) and I played a whole scenario with him.
We had a lot of fun and he wants to support us with coverage during the Gamefound campaigns.
On the second day, a colleague from Dice Tower (USA) even came by and played Sicily 43 with Michael, expressing his great excitement for the unique dice system and how quick it is to play.
He had never seen such mechanics in wargaming!
Back fully motivated! Great mood and now back to the office.
Only a three more days until the start of the Assault Sicily 43 gamefound campaign. getting quiet nervous!

In their defense the guys from The Dice Tower don't really know wargames all that well, so almost any dice mechanics in a wargame would be a surprise to them ;D

Yup. To say that Wolfgang is pleased (and relieved) is somewhat of an understatement. Hopefully, it will do very well given that the campaign still has 28 days to run.

That's so weird that the subtle shading around the edges gives the counters a totally different look. It gives them some depth. Well done on that. :bigthumb:
Unfortunately I cancelled my pre-order of the game. I'm not particularly interested in the theatre (Italy and North Africa were never my favourites) and also I need to get more money out of Assault Red Horizon '41. When I've got more use out of '41 and I see more videos on '43, I may well jump in.
