Isn't the DVG Warfighter stuff squad level?

Probably. I really don't pay much attention to DVG because it's almost all solo stuff and I'm just not into solo board games.

It is and there is a modern version of it.

It is indeed squad-level - my bad, JD specified platoon level.

If I were going to buy a solo game, it would be Fields of Fire.

If he got overwhelmed by Conflict of Heroes, Fields of Fire will totally bake his noodle
I was only overwhelmed when I received everything from bob...scared the crap out of me and confusion was from what ruleset to use - as there would be changes between the various additions - as well as the solo expansion...it was the scale of everything. When I had AtB, I was in la la land - loved it.

I just didn't realise the scale of everything I was about to receive  ;D

JD, you ever think about Fields of Fire?

https://www.gmtgames.com/p-322-fields-of-fire-2nd-edition.aspx

It has a steep learning curve, but I've heard across the board that it's well worth it. It covers three periods - WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.

I'd also suggest DVG's IAF Leader, Phantom Leader, Warfighter Modern, or anything else they do that might float your boat.
I would rather have a nice map (as rigid and non flexible that is) than card portraying ground. Thanks though

I have Warfighter Modern Warfare. It's ok...but again, I'd like to get back to counters and maps. I have a few DVG titles.

Unless its changed recently, I was under the impression that the core CoH rules applied to all the games?

NATO Air Commander is another one I've given serious consideration to

It's a very interesting game. I've only played it a couple of time so far but it's hard to win... even when you think yer doing well it can all go to shit in a hurry....

However, for what you get in the box it's a tad expensive... at least from a Canuck point of view. There is now a Print and Play version available though...

I haven't read all the manuals so I wouldn't know honestly. I "assumed" there would be differences due to differing units. But you'd still have to use and disect the manual depending on the game you're playing to find those differences - I'd imagine. The core rules may well be the same though.

In all honesty, I flim flam all the time about which games I want to play. In recent months I've had the manuals out for Heroes of the Falklands, Heroes of Nam, CoH, CoH Solitaire,  DVG Warfighter:Modern Warfare (which is still by my bed) and - more recently - LnL Blood and Bridges. Truth is, I want to play all of those, but they're so vastly different in ruleset that I can't make my mind up which one I want to play.

I've currently settled on Blood and Bridges because I bought into the LnL Kickstarter - but god alone knows if I get to play any of that out.

It doesn't help at the minute that I don't have a proper gaming area (as I converted the lions share of my room into a  modelling work station).

I just had some birthday cash spare and thought I'd chuck it at a board game that I could look into in the future - otherwise it'll get spent on something less worthwhile   :'(

No - however, Battle Hue reminded me of a game I've been wanting to get and never done it - A Day of Heroes. Possibly
