This looks rather splendid!
https://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/267661/crossing-line-aachen-1944
-
Indeed, it does! Now all we have to do is wait for JH or BC to let us know how it plays! :bigthumb:
-
Absolutely :bigthumb:
If JD buys it, we stand a chance, but if we have to wait for BC it'll just disappear on to his 'unplayed' mountain ;)
-
It's more like a 'butte' or 'mesa,' if you prefer.
-
-
That map looks very nice!
-
Yes, all the components look good. I also downloaded the rules and read a lot of stuff on BGG about it. It seems to have been well received and has some nice mechanics.
-
I've never heard of the publisher or designer mind...but it does look noice - and cheap
-
No, its a new one to me. I've looked at the website and they don't have many games. It is tempting and not expensive, and SCG has it in stock.
-
Well I hope they've got more than one! :hehe:
-
Did you just order it then?
-
Reading up on it - but it does look tasty :nerd:

My only thought is that it may not have a lot of replayablity. If it covered a bit more of the whole campaign I would be in like a shot. Even so, very tempting.
-
It's quite cheap mind....
And Victoria Cross II was a couple of small battles and I definitely thought it was money well spent.
Still reviewing...
-
I may just have to pull the trigger on this one.
-
Damn you guys.....
-
Looks good huh?
-
Yes... but 55 euros is not what I'd call cheap... ~$85 CAD + shipping...
Still it does look good and looks like an interesting battle. I like the use of German symbols on the German units.
-
The VASSAL module is very nice too.... I'll play you when you get it Bob. ;)
-
I have downloaded the Vassal mod and I'm currently reading the rules :-)

Ditto.

OK, I couldn't resist any more, it just looks so interesting.
Game ordered.
-
I've never heard of this publisher. They only have one other game and it also looks interesting to me:
The Great Crisis of Frederick II (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/301572/great-crisis-frederick-ii)
Here's their web site: VUCA Simulations (https://vucasims.com/)
-
Yeah, just the two games at present - I've told Doug about the Fred II game since it seems to be well within his sphere of interest.
I saw it as my duty to do so
-

HA! You caved before me :2funny:
-
Found a US distributor for The Great Crisis of Frederick II so I ordered it. :D
We'll each have to do a review. 8)

I thought I'd better get in quick in case its the only copy he has (which I doubt) and also I though I would save you from yourself since you have a cart load of games heading your way. I would hate to see you suffer from games overload :-)
-
I'm just watching a video of this. It does look interesting.

That's ma thang though. I'm at piece with it.
You know...when I was a kid, my brother and I were military mad. We'd watch all the films with my dad. At some point we wanted a board game...this in fact...
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/11138/tank-command
What we got was this
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/2598/tank-battle
Which actually was better
But anyway - We'd have been 8. We didn't get much into board games. I eventually got the chance back in the early 90's when I bought a few TSR games and - Pacific Theatre. Yep - that MASSIVE Pacific Theatre game. As you can see, I had no idea of what I was looking for or what was suitable.
Now that I've found my lost love of board gaming, I'm making the most of it.
-
I think you would like this one - its got some very interesting mechanics.
-
I've got to be honest - the combat mechanics looked rather in depth. I'm not a massive fan of "odds" based combat anyway - which I have just recently had to deal with in Mrs Thatcher's War. I can do them...I'm just not a huge fan - never did like math
Not that I'm still not considering it...I'm still watching videos
-
Just picked this up for some background reading

I love that this site is full of enablers :)
-
-
I think I've watched all the videos, and started to listen to the playthroughs, until I realised that most of 'em are in German :-)
My copy may arrive tomorrow or Saturday I hope.
-
Oh Joy!
My copy arrived today ;D
-
Pics or it didn't happen! :D
-
Here ya go.

Vassal? Cheating!! :Loser: ;D
Just experimenting.
The file size from Vassal was stupid - 18+Mb, so I opened it with paint shop pro 7 and saved it as a jpeg to reduce the file. As you are well aware, my skills as a photographer leave much to be desired'
-
Bob, I've been using Paint Shop Pro 7 for about 20 years now! I do use other, more modern programs but PSP 7 is always my 'go to' choice. 8)
-
I've had it for a very long time as well. I don't use it for many things and only know some very basic stuff, but converting stuff to jpeg is certainly the thing I use it for most. It also opens tga files for some (non wargaming) hobby work I do.
Going back a very long time, I used it to make quite a lot of mods for the original Combat Mission games using PSP7
-
A look at VUCA's other game:
-
So...while punching the counters for The Great Crisis of Frederick II I discovered the following three Crossing the Line counters. They look like they are meant to be a replacement for either missing counters or misprinted counters. If anyone who owns Crossing the Line would like them you are welcome to them, just let me know. First come, first serve. 8)

Its funny you should ask that, but I have a need for those very replacement counters.
I'd be more than happy to pay postage :-)
-
They are yours! PM an address to mail them to. Don't worry about postage, it is nothing at all like sending a package! :D
-
I take back all those rumours I started about you.
...well, most of 'em anyway.
-
>:D

Arrived today, thanks very much, Mike.
I shall take a wee dram to toast you with as I know you a like a decent malt. Which one of these would you prefer? ;)
-
I'll have one of everything! (https://www.aarcentral.com/emoti/new/twirldance.gif)
Glad they arrived safely! :bigthumb:
-
One of each it is then, and make mine a double!
-

It will be out in about 2-3 weeks.
I case of any questions or concerns, we are always happy to answer any questons :)

Welcome, Patrick! I'm enjoying a playthrough of Frederick II right now. Great game! :bigthumb:
