Title: Return to 1809 -- A Mega Scharnhorst Campaign for "Blucher"
Post by: Cyrano on January 25, 2021, 10:40:05 PM
Teams:

Napoleon I:  Dalinore

Team France:
CommandTent
DDay
Jeff

Archduke Charles: Giorgio

Team Austria:

Haz
McGuire
OJ

Jeff -- Side preference?

Here's how it works:  Doug and Giorgio will get their briefing sheets (very small) and be asked to divide the armies into columns.  Once I've got that set, we will gather on Wednesday for Scharnhorst moves.  Whatever battles we make our way to will then be built and the teams will be invited to play, probably on a Saturday Night Fight.  Number of players needed will obviously vary depending on what the two commanders come up with.

Away we go..

Do not despair.

If the group is small enough, we might just wind up with two overall commanders -- call them PanzerBoney and DaliCharles or some such -- and then we can put together a group of interested players to run through the games their machinations put in place.  It's what the Little Wars guys did and might work well.  Who knows, might even run one or two in a Euro-friendly time slot.

I'm interested for sure! How much time on Wed nights as I've usually got a D&D game running?  If nothing else I should be available as a commander for battles on SNF.

I hesitate to say this ('cause I'm a shy, retiring person), but I'm interested.

Keep your expectations low, though. (At least, with me around you won't have to complain about losing because of the dice.)

The way it's shaping up in my head, the commanders (and kibitzers) get together for a brief Wednesday night series of movements.  This might or might not provoke a battle.  If the former, we gather the following week.  If the latter, I go off and pull troops and terrain sufficient. In either event, we then move on to the regular Wednesday night festivities, whatever they are.

I know that my life will be at risk (the cause; mariticide) if I play also at wednesday night.. but I can't left my poor austrians alone!

So I ask a place as a sub commander of the kaiserlich.

It's planned to start this evening at 7pm? (Evening in Milwaukee=Night in Madrid  :-[)

How deep down the rabbit hole shall we go?

I'll keep it simple:  Erzherzog Karl Legion, generic Militia (I've been using your Styrians).

Oh, and i want Hessians for QB, but that's another story.

Haz correctly points out that once per campaign each side may VETO a battle.

Dalinore (French CinC) may veto the battle over the Danube.

Can't say as he wants to and it would cost him 2 VP, but he can do so.

Unless I hear from him on that veto, though, I'm a-building!
