Isn't Vae Victus in French, though?

I bought one from Fine Games recently, as it had a good-looking game in there that mirrorerd the helicopter assault on a Vietnamese village from 'Apocalypse Now.'

Imagine my surprise when the mag is completely in French.  :silly:

I dunno. The timing sounds good for The Batman!

Fair point!  :2funny:

The magazines are all in French, but a lot of the stand-alone games, such as this one, have English rules versions. Note that this isn't a magazine game :-)

JD, appreciate your coverage a few pages upthread on Enemy Action Ardennes. I've been wanting it for a while and finally got a copy at Noble Knight for a decent price (had some credit so why not).

I also got Steel Wolves. I'd recently re-acquired Silent War along with its IJN expansion in a trade. I know Compass is doing an upgraded/combined version but I am happy with this. Steel Wolves has been on my grail list for a while, too.

Got in a face-to-face game of Star Wars: Rebellion on Friday.  First time I'd played it in quite a long while.  I ended up winning a narrow victory as the Rebels but the Empire blew up the Wookie homeworld out of spite.

We started a face-to-face, 3-player game of Stellar Horizons today.  Got about 7 hours in and we're about 1/3rd of the way through the grand campaign.  Hadn't played this one in quite a long time either so I ended up screwing up a fairly major rule that should've prevented crewed vehicles from exploring Venus as nobody had developed pressure hulls yet.  Oh well, hurt me the most as I'm playing Japan and they specialize in robotic explorers.  We're going to continue the game in a few weeks.

That sounds like a good time, SDR (for both games).  :)

I have Stellar Horizons, and each time I heft that box I wonder how daft I was to get it in the first place. I could work out with that damned thing.

^ So, will that count as combining game playing with gym work?

Don't you say that about every game though?

It very well could!

I mean, I'm only doing running at the gym right now. I try to avoid the weight machines as people get...territorial over those things. Still, I have weight bands at home, and Stellar Horizons, now.  ;D

Don't you say that about every game though?

As a sum total, yes.

But individually, this mother of a box is redonkulously heavy.

It's not so bad.  It does eat up a lot of table space though.  It's very crowded on my 3.5' x 5'5' table and every player has a card table set up with their faction board and goodies on that instead of the main table.

I think the physically heaviest game I own is Tide of Iron + 3 expansions.  That sucker has to be at least 30 lbs.

That's a good point, re: Tide of Iron + expansions. I tried to sell my copies on Consimworld and nada, no takers, especially likely because shipping would have been a b*tch of a cost to eat. I ended up trading them to Noble Knight.

The table space is a concern, but eventually I'll have a dedicated, large board game table in my office. I'm just waiting on some side gigs to manifest.

The boys and I visited Brant and Gamer's Armory a few weeks back. I picked up Hold the Line: American Civil War. I actually got it stickered in one evening. We broke out the game the next day and they commanded the forces at Bull Run. The photos are from the first couple of turns of our game a few weeks ago but the game will be back on the table soon. The Union forces did not upset history with their performance on this day.

Setting up the battle

Battle status at the end of turn 2 IIRC.

Really solid block game and great for young or new wargamers.

We tried out a 2 player session of boardgame version of Sniper Elite this afternoon.  It's surprisingly fun and quite tense.  We ended up playing 4 times.  I'm terrible at it, managing 1 win and 1 loss as the sniper and 2 losses as the defenders.
