What is this 'planning' of which you speak?

I've never really been satisfied with P-500s. They charge early and you always seem to end up waiting longer than expected. And the savings never seems to be enough to justify the frustration.

Interestingly, GMT just dropped Scramble for Africa from it's P500 list.

Here at ACD, we all pee the same color.

I saw a little of that, but not being familiar with the game, I just scratch my head.  I was only posting because of Mirth's comment on how GMT' handles P500

there's plenty of utterly predictable whining about the shuttering of the game, but the bottom line us that the game was built around the competitive exploitation of natives, and their mistreatment, revolts, genocide, etc were reduced to mere random events in the game instead of being legitimate considerations for the way the colonial powers behaved

It completely removed any agency from the native populations and treated them as pure resources to be exploited and their grievances as inconveniences to be overcome.  It was easy to see why GMT would dial it back

That hasn't stopped the inevitable "ZOMG THEY HATES HISTORY WHATS WRONG WITH GMT I HATEZ THEMZ!" false equivalency over-reactions on social media, of course  ::)

Wow, just read through (what's left of) some threads at BGG on this game. I had no idea about the controversy. I remember reading the P500 blurb on it a while back and deciding it wasn't for me. I hope there's no GMT backlash at Origins.

The kind of guys that are pissed about this are the same ones that swore off Origins after the Larry Correia fiasco last year.

No matter your stance on Larry Correia either way, there's no question at all that Origins bungled the handling and subsequent rescinding of the invitation for him to be a guest of honor.

Actually, Brant, the reason why I went back and added Wing Leader and the other last two from that list is from listening to 'our' Podcast episode. ;D

As for Scramble for Africa, like one poster in that thread said, I just assumed it was a newer version of Source of the Nile (which I own, in storage somewhere). The crayons in it sucked, though, so it was hard to draw on the board.

I saw your post, Brant.  :2funny:
