Old-School Essentials Fantasy RPG Box Sets (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/exaltedfuneral/old-school-essentials-fantasy-rpg-box-sets?ref=card) Kickstarter went live today. Spoiler: they've already met their $100,000US goal.

it's tempting, but I just don't know that I can justify $100 for something I know I'm not going to play, like... ever

Huh. If I used that logic I wouldn't own any games!  :P

Yeah, but most of those $100 games that I buy aren't essentially duplicating things I already have.

If I want to play a B/X-style game, I'll grab one of my 3 original Rules Cyclopedias, or one of the 4 red Ottus books or my 3 blue Ottus books, or one of my full set of Mentzer BECMI rules and just play those.

And if not that, I've got 3 different editions of C&C, a shit-ton of old 1e AD&D, a slightly smaller (crap-ton?) of 2e AD&D, 4 different intro-level BECMI-series box sets, 3 different DCC starter books, and that's just what's in the D&D "family" of games, without getting into any other rules systems.

I second this.  I *WANT*, but realistically I'll never get around to actually doing anything with them.

But don't you want to complete your collection?

If I was looking for OSR-feel games, there's plenty of others.

But again, if you guys are all *that* worried about my collection, you're cordially invited to fill in the gaps for me!

They are now up to $736,900 with 15 or so hours left. Since I found out they have that ruleset available in Fantasy Grounds now, I decided to go in on the Classic Game Set plus the Advanced Expansion Set pledge.   :)
